I'm a big fan of Marcy Playground. I love their first album (self titled). Shapeshifter, the second album, is not as good but still packs an interesting punch (I'd give the 1st album 5 stars and the 2nd 4.5). MP3 is another great album to own. Most of the songs are on point. However, this album was really hard to find for a decent price. You probably won't find it in big record stores..maybe in a little used records store but you're best bet is on ebay but be careful not to pay an obscene price for a used or even new copy of this CD. If you're a Marcy Playground enthusiast, buy this album--you'll like what you hear. If you're just looking to get into this band, this album would be fine to start with but go with their first album (plus, you can get that album really cheap on ebay or amazon).Read full review
Its more of the same, but still really good. I'm waiting for something with more depth. I liked their second album better, this one is more pop. I would have been satisfied with more hallowed acid dripped lyrics and flanging guitars. Oh well, 'till the next time.
I had very high hopes for MP3, probably too high. When it finally was released it became clear that Marcy Playground had not grown as a band. In fact, they had de-evolved. There are a couple great songs but the lyrics are lacking and so is the music. The only thing that is good all the way through is the vocals. 3 Stars.
Another amazing work of art from one of the premiere story-tellers/song writers of our generation!! One of the few bands which sound just as outstanding live as recorded--with 2 upcoming titles to be released soon don't miss out on this treasure!
