This book is about people who have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality disorder and also for those who love them. Many people (usually female) with BPD have been abused in some way (sexually, physically, emoptionally, etc). Due to the abuse, they may experience many emotions such as self-hatred, guilt, very low self-esteem, and more. Many become self-abusers and cut and/or burn themselves or mutilate themselves in many other ways. Many become suicidal. I read this book because I was diagnosed as having BPD. Even with the material the doctor gave me, I didn't feel I really understood this diagnosis and how it pertained to me. So, when I came across this book, I bought it, read it and it definately helped me understand myself a lot better. While reading several of the cases I felt like I was reading about me. It also helped my spouse undestand me better and become more patient with me as I tried to learn new behaviors. I was a self-mutilator. I cut myself with razors and burned myself with cigarettes. Those scars will be with me forever, but thanks to this book and one titled "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me", my emotional scars began to finally heal. I haven't harmed myself in years and I am now a much happier person.Read full review
