Amplified computer speakers are pretty much commodity item these days, but the Logitech X-140 speaker system stands out from the crowd. These are somewhat better than basic speakers with a dual driver design intended to maximize bass response without distortion. While they do deliver on that promise, they are somewhat lacking in the treble department, which gives them a slightly muddy quality. The slim design is unobtrusive and blends in well with most desktops and its internal transformer means there's no annoying power brick blocking multiple outlets. From a physical standpoint, these speakers work well for my desk at work, which is what I bought them for. All in all, these speakers offer decent, but not outstanding, sound and represent a good value for the money.
AFter opening the box, I was shocked at how large these speakers are. For the price? Amazing deal! Large but designed to not seem to take alot of space. WIth the size and weight you would think it would have better bass response, but again for price no one can complain (Except my neighbors if they had better bass response!). The front audio jacks are nice, the AC adaptor is neat because it doesn't have a wall-mounted AC adaptor (it's installed mid-cord). ONce again, you can't go wrong with this deal!
These are the best speakers for computers, bar none, that anyone can purchase in any price range. Couple that with the modest price and it's a no-brainer. The impressive element is actually not the speakers but what happens to merchants when they sell through e-bay. The same seller who might refuse correspondence or treat you shabbily after they have your money, seem to be angels when they sell through e-bay. Although they are few and far between it is apparent that e-bay runs a tight ship and you can be virtually certain that there is no fear from on-line purchasing when done through e-bay. Out of the two (2) relevant concerns 1. Quality and 2. Support...two (2) out of Two (2) for the home team is batting 1.000. Back to the speakers; immediately after you hook them up to your PC you are acutely aware that you had been missing most of the sound with other speakers. The stereo sound is clear and sharp. The tone and volume controls assure that you can set these speakers to what ever sound fine tunning you desire. It's kind of like those beds that let you dial your own comfort. I think I would personally choose the headphone and line input as the two features I most enjoy. They were totally unexpected when I purchased my first of the so far 7 sets I have bought. Don't get me wrong, I only use 3 sets myself but I have enjoyed them so much that I want all of my friends and family to enjoy them as well. I make a habit now of giving these speakers for gifts on birthdays and other special occasions. They love me for it. What else could one say about speakers? After all a speaker is a speaker...that is unless they are the Logitech X-140 Speakers. The clincher is that they are a sharp looking set of speakers. To put it in the words of my significant other, "Oh those are cutsie". I think that meant she liked them too. They stand a full 10" high and are about 3 1/2" wide. Do yourself a favor, get these speakers before they discover that people would buy them at twice the price.Read full review
I really like these speakers because they seem more "old school." In other words, they are well-constructed and the sound doesn't sound cheap, like it does on other speakers. The power output is also impressive. I also like the fact that you can adjust the bass and treble.
