I have lots of experience with a variety of dimmers. From ones with knobs, to up and down slide ones like this switch. This model here is the best. It's well built and not easily broken. It can be used with a single pole or with a 3-way switch. The feature I like the most is the switch at the bottom. Once you adjust the dimmer to the perfect light level you prefer in the room, you can use the switch to shut off the light and later you can turn the light back on to that exact dimmer setting you had before. No dimmer adjustment is needed again, unlike other dimmers that make you find that setting you like every time you turn the light on. I highly reccomend this product.

Received 10 dimmer switches, as advertised. They looked nice, and even looked new. But half of them did not work. I still came out ahead of buying them new... but at what cost. I gave up the warranty of buying from a box store and, in the end, saved a few dollars. Not worth the hassle of installing and un-installing several different switches to find those that worked. Save the hassle and buy new.

While I do recommend using a dimmer your LED bulb manufacturer lists as compatible - and I bought the Leviton 6674-POW for that reason - I plan to personally check this dimmer with bulbs that don't list it due to a feature I haven't seen on other dimmers that allows greater dimming range. Explanation: Most LED/CFL dimmers - even ones recommended for the particular bulb - will dim to a far lower brightness than it can turn on at. You can dim to the low brightness but if you turn it off it won't turn back on at that low level. Those dimmers usually have an adjustment lever which allow you to set the lowest dimming level at which it will turn back on. Sometimes that level is so bright you almost might as well not have a dimmer. But if you install it without limiting that brightness level to one it will turn back on from you risk having it ON when the bulb doesn't light and you won't know it is on. For those I recommend always turning them to full bright BEFORE turning them off so they will come back on. But the Leviton 6674-POW doesn't restrict your dimming range! It allows you to dim as far as the bulb will allow - even dimmer than it could "normally" come back on at and when you turn it off it remembers that level. When you turn it back on you can see it momentiarily come back on brighter and immediately dim to the previous level. Note: My LED bulb manufacturer (Satco 16R40/LED/2700K-2200K) specified setting this dimmer to CFL and not LED and the feature I am describing that I like so much "might be" what Leviton calls "kick-starting" for CFL's and "might not" be there if set to LED. I purchased several of these a couple were used for a basement project. I used three different types of LED dimmable bulbs and three different recessed housings they worked perfectly and dim as expected except for one of the used ones! So beware of buying from sellers with used ones as it must be possible to burn them out if improperly installed.

This item will NOT work with LED fixtures, individual bulbs, maybe.., But not LED fixtures. It should not be advertised as comperasble for this type of unit..
