I've had much success with Lee bullet molds and this one is no exception. The blocks are perfectly aligned, cavities perfectly symmetrical and Lee's recent updates (e.g., new pin design) make for a VERY easy-to-use tool. Bullets drop CONSISTENTLY at 230.5 - 231 grains, and .309" - .3095". Even with varying mold temperatures they cast consistently. I do recommend running it (and the casting pot) unusually high though, since the cavities are so deep. I had to go to 780F before the entire length was wrinkle-free over and over (YMMV). But once things were hot and flowing well, I was able to cast more than 260 perfect bullets in just over an hour - only a couple toss-backs which were my fault :)

I have several bullet molds from Lee, so I expected the performance of this one to be the same. I only dropped about 8 bad bullets from this mold till I started getting perfect ones. The aluminium this is made from heats up pretty fast so production can begin fast. Definitely recommend this mold, or really any that Lee makes in the two cavity design.

I like Lee dies for casting bullets they may be made out of aluminum but they hold up well and last a long time . I do wish that they made single cavity molds for precision shooting but in a .230 grain mold it is not necessary . I got this mold for making subsonic loads for my .300 blackout and they won't be traveling much farther than 150 meters anyway so the precision is not quite as important as if you were shooting long distance like with my .308 Winchester at 0-1,000 meters being the norm .

After cleaning and smoking the mold, I heated it up and after the third cast and water dropping, the produced bullets came out gorgeous. I will be loading these for subsonic 308's and 7.62x39 in a mini 30 as soon as I find appropriate loads. I believe the new design of the molds has helped a lot. I may end up replacing the other 14 molds I have with the new design.

Cast a few with it this week. If your using the Hi Tek bonded mold release from Hi-Performance Bullet Coating in Louisiana the bullets just drop out of the mold when opened. I have a number of molds manufactured by others. All more expensive than the Lee. As far as I can tell, for a hobbyist guy like me, you can't beat the Lee for the price you are paying and the performance you will get.
