I ordered 2 of these, one for a gift exchange & one for myself. The tool is sturdy and collapses into an adjustable holster to carry on your belt. It has 7 tools combined into one (as Leatherman's often do) and although I don't foresee ever having to use all of these, it's nice to know they are there if needed. The tool is designed for EMT use and having spoken to one of these professionals, he states that his has become indispensable. The one I brought to the gift exchange was one of the most sought after items during the "steal" portion of the game. I would buy this item again if I needed to.

Its a great EMT tool and I used it a lot. very compact system but it does rust. It was raining one day and I had to respond to a football game. I was out in the rain with all my gear for about 3 hours. My EMT bag is water proof so non of the internal stuff got wet. This raptor was out in my belt harness and got rained on. after a day later it was rusting in random places.

The product is great because it folds up and clips to my pocket of my scrubs. The scissors are very sharp and cuts tape, cloth and all other items I need to cut during the day on the floor. The actual carry case is too tight to pull the scissors and takes too much effort to get up of the carrying case. The ruler helps me measure sizes of wounds and determines what I need to use for dressing of these wound. Great product.

Raptors work wonders in EMS (from cutting leather boots off to driving through motorcycle armour, cutting through your metal cardboard orthoglass splints, belts, and even 'with work' cutting a few rings/hooks off) these shears will cut minutes off of on scene time or merely pt. contact time in general. The raptor O2 tank wrench has always saved the day when the field goes to craziness, other than digging through a bag for a broken O2 wrench, just whip out your shears and use those...easy. doesnt get in the way at all. The belt cutter is very functional, nice to use when in a tight space and easy access..only downside is that if you are negligent the belt cutter can take off a part of your finger. The shears themselves will dull after 2 years of hard abuse, had no problem with the warranty. I always used the hospital grade alcohol/bleach/lysol wipes and after taking a few dips in water, mud, sludge, body fluids they will rust a bit but it hasnt impaired the shears from their use after so many years. The clip has yet to fail me, i just attach it to my belt or strap to my cargo pant pocket..has not fallen out or weaken the clip enough to make it lose. I never used the holster, i do not recommend using it merely because it dramatically adds to the bulk and in tight spaces that holster will get caught on nacks or your 5150 pt. will notice it more easily and grab for it. The painted measurements on the side will come off if you work in EMS and abuse them, if you work in the ED you can get away with it and will have the measurements last some time without fading. The window punch is good, small hole at first and doesnt shatter full window on first few hits if you dont do it right, but it is great for Fast and quick entry if you dont have the right equipment on hand. I have dropped these shears so many times, they have been stepped on, ran over by the gurney, tossed, smashed by much heavier equipment and they still work. Only downside really is when trying to remove all body fluids from the shears, on a messy call your shears may be stuck with some left over fluids inbetween the parts if you dont take the time to deep clean them. Ive had some others say the shears are heavier or that it is too hard to push the safety locks down to open them...but i will say if you do not have the finger strength to open your shears then maybe you are in the wrong field and if these shears are too heavy they are a few more ounces because they are made to cut through things that generic shears cannot survive and if you are queasy about having to take the time to clean your shears and just leaving old blood stuck in your shears then you haven't worked in EMS long enough. Overall these are the best shears I have used, i recommend them for anyone in EMS FFD PD or the ED if they have the money and care.Read full review
