I just recently became very interested in the civil war. It is amazing how fast times have changed and in some instances stayed the same. I guess I never really payed much attention in history class so it was great to see which general represented which side of the war. It also gave their breif personal histories , Along with President Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth. The DVD was very informative with many historians prespectives of the war. I would highly recommend
In 2000, I traveled to all the Civil Battle Fields where two of my great great grandfathers fought. One for New York wounded at Gettysburg, Captured at James City,Prisons in Richmond and Andersonville. Paroled, exchanged and wounded at Petersburg two weeks before the end of the War. The other one for Pennsylvania was sick and left in hospital at Winchester. Captured by Stonewall Jackson. Town changed hands 72 times in 4 years. Returned to duty and wounded at Spotsylvania Court House. I went to Appomattox Court House at end of five week trip. This was a great DVD that showed the places that ended the War with great explanations of that end.

Very entertaining 2 DVD set from the History Channel. I particularly enjoyed the section based upon Jay Winik's book April 1865. Good for those without a large amount of Civil War knowledge but I also feel those with a deeper understanding would benefit as well. Well worth the money and time to watch.
Great info. Like the characters.
