I bought this book out of curiosity being as I seem to have this obsession with fairies and also thought it would be something neat to share with my children. After reading this book myself I came to the conclusion, this book is definately not intended for little eyes due to some graphic detailing in a few pictures(which are bound by a sleeve to keep from being seen until reader removes)Some parts not for little ears as well.I must say the fairies in this book are not what many of us would think of when fairy comes to mind. When I think of fairies, I think beauty, enchanting, and so on.Not the fairies Lady Cottington squished in her flower pressing book. These fairies where little mischievous creatures and very vulgar.I also believe Lady Cottington was just plain crazy, blaming fairies for her behavior, actions, and to have never married but,it did indeed make me smile and is great for the imagination.Read full review
This is a book about fairies that is aimed more at adults than children. It is the humorous telling a of the story of a young Victorian British girls's sexual awakening. (I didn't realize this when I ordered it.). Still, it is hilarious at times and well within bounds for adults, as "Ms. Cottington" represses her adolescent impulses by squashing naughty fairies within the pages of the book, holding THEM accountable for her lapses in judgment! The illustrations are fabulous, but, despite its innocent appearance, this one is NOT for the kids!
