We bought the PA 1200 based on its appearance, performance specifications, and its pricing. The Napolitana is well constructed from formed stainless steel with a highly polished finish. It is well proportioned to fit on the kitchen counter below the upper cabinets. The ss surfaces are easy to clean. The built-in burr grinder works well, if a little slowly. The boiler heats up within 3 minutes and will produce espresso in another 60 seconds. The steam frothing function will reliably foam a tall mug of milk in a minute, with very little down-time for the boiler to re-heat. The coffee holder itself is heavily chrome-plated brass, easy to clean. The water reservoir is very large, and with the water-return feature (I don't know how it returns, I only know that it uses a lot less water per cup than our last machine), will go for almost a week without refill in our house. And it's easy to refill with any water pitcher. The price-point for this unit was set near the top of the mid-priced machines. The units in the next class above cost nearly double the price of the Napolitana for what appeared to be only nominal improvements in quality and performance. The espresso machines costing less were not nearly as well put-together, attractive, or functional. Our machine has been in constant use for 3 months, with 3 of us using it daily without any problems. We'd recommend it to our favorite uncle without reservation.Read full review
This is a reliable espresso maker with consistent results. The operation procss is somewhat complex and the manual unclear.
