I really had my heart set on a 55" 3D Samsung LED/LCD HDTV, but could never come up with the money to buy one. And although Samsung is the supposedly the leader in 3D HDTV, LG is number 2 from the reviews I read. Anyway, I was was fortunate to buy this TV new and under warranty for about half of retail. Went crazy waiting for delivery from east coast, but worth it. I am totally blown away with the features, ease of use and the picture on this HDTV - WOW! I replaced an old 50" Toshiba (12 year old) and can't believe I waited so long to get my first HDTV. The LG LED/LCD technology is awesome, cool, low power and the picture is better than looking out a Windex window commercial! And the 3D, WOW, as good as any theatre on the newer movies. Some of the older movies/shows are OK, but a little blurry at the sides - you have to stay focused on the center of the screen to truly enjoy the show. Can't wait for more 3D movies and DirecTV now has 4 channels of 3D content! The only bummer here, as with all 3D TVs, is the cost of Active 3D Glasses and you have to make sure to get the correct, compatible version too. I understand LG is coming out with a Passive version, but the cost of new technology is usually much higher and not standardized for a year or so. Toshiba has a "no glasses" 3D in smaller screens, but again, new & costly. I own a few other LG products and although I favor Sony, Samsung & Toshiba - the LG 55LX6500 3D HDTV was the smartest and best buy I have made in years! THANKS LG! :)Read full review
After reading many reviews on many models and understanding the 3D passive vs Active this was the best bang for the bucks. Bright, excellent viewing angles, internet ready (requires extra wifi dongle), zero problems with fast objects at 240Hz, powers up fast and changes channels quick, swivel base, 4 HDMI hookups, many other hookup options, digital optical out,3D... WOW! better than theaters and if I do say so we (my entire family) are big 3D theatre fans. Cons: 3D requires Active glasses (theatre 3D glasses will not work, Digital out... could have used a Digital Coax out connector to work with my older 5.1 system as this TV does not have this jack. Other wise perfect buy. Have owned just over a month now.
