After intensive/thorough research and experience: this phone HAS EXCELLENT RECEPTION, HEARING, VOICE and DEPENDABILITY qualities. The LG VX8300 surpassed my expectations. Simple to use, and if you want the extras they are already built into this phone. ---I HAVE HAD THE SAME UNIT FOR ** 6 YEARS ** With daily use, in the shower (not directly under the water), outdoors, forgotten in the car in both hot summer days, freezing winter nights, bumped, and dropped occasionally...and it just kept on working perfectly! I would still be using it today, if my nephew had not have hid it in my recycling bin on pick up day, before it could be rescued (resulting in a premature death). The duration that this unit has lasted is a testament to dependability and worthiness of ownership! A+ in my book. ---- I purchased a new LG VX8300 to replace the one that was lost. To my horror.. VERIZON NO LONGER SUPPORTS/UPDATES THIS MODELS SOFTWARE ! -- Back-up Assistant (to transfer your contacts/names) DOES NOT ..NOR WILL EVER WORK! What this means is, if something does happen to your phone, you have no way to automatically recover or update those names/numbers you have added over time into your phone. Manually entering 220+ entries is a pain. Now I must keep a hard copy of my contacts...what a nightmare. *Note: those pre-existing units that were in service before March 2012 had the last update, and are working fine. IF YOU BUY THIS UNIT AFTER APRIL 2012 YOUR SCREWED ON SOFTWARE! ** Yes, the phone will still make/receive calls perfectly, but other features may be effected. I highly recommend the Casio Exilim C-721 as a comparable replacement to this model. Verizon still supports the Casio software as of June 2012. It has ALL the characteristics and features of the LG VX8300 ..but with the bonus of a superb 5 pixel camera! Do not let VW try to sell you a crappy phone for cheap! Verizon themselves no longer sells Casio Exilim C-721, but tons of other reputable online retailers do. I have done the research, now all you have is the easy part. Order and enjoy. ---- Albeit, I have found no other device (believe me I have looked into this extensively) that has the hearing/voice quality, dependability (outside of Casio Exilim C-721 with MILITARY SPECS (waterproof, drop proof up to 4'ect). This is not only my recommendation, but is also my personal choice for my next phone.Read full review
An oldie but goodie. I currently have this phone and when my husband's phone broke, I had to find a phone for him that would work on our plan with Verizon. This phone is still on our plan. I have had this phone for years. I hate that I cannot use backup assist because Verizon no longer supports backup assist for this phone. Since I have this phone as well, I went to the Verizon store where they used the blue tooth to send my phone numbers from my phone to my husband's phone. It took a very long to do this. However, it was much simpler than manually entering in the phone numbers. They used to have a machine that would transfer the phone numbers from one phone to another. They still have this machine but it looks like they don't support this phone any more for data transfer. The transfer simply wouldn't work. This is a durable little phone and can take a little drop. It's a very basic camera phone and serves its purpose well.Read full review
This is the BEST cell Phone that I've ever owned! I've had this cell phone for over 7 or 8 years and I still can't find another phone like it that is easy to use and so User Friendly! I Just Love My Phone! I Wish they still made them for me to get a new one just like it! I would do it in a minute. I have had it and used it so much that the letters and the numbers have started to wear off because I use it so much! I've used it throughout High school and I'm now a Senior in College and I Still use This Phone! Best Phone Ever!
Love this phone! Needed something simple to use. No tweeting, video watching, game playing, gps locating, stock price finding, wonder smart phone. Just wanted a phone that has easy keypad, feels good in the hand, has great voice quality, is easy to open flip style. This phone was a refurb that was packaged in PagePlusCellular's trademarked red owl bubble pack. That meant it was already loaded with PagePlusCellular's software using Verizon's cell towers which cover the more remote areas of the western U.S. It arrived quickly, Had the factory refurb plastic film screen protectors installed. Just like new. We dumped our landline phone and use this as our home phone. PagePlusCellular's prepaid rates suit our needs just fine. We lost our original Verizon/PagePlusCellular LG VX5200 and this later model-LG VX8300- of the same phone was the perfect replacement.Read full review
Purchased this phone for my 87 y/o husband. Verizon does not offer a simple phone for elderly users. My husband was not interested in a "smart" phone. He wanted a simple phone, with speaker option (he has hearing aids in both ears) and camera. We searched and searched....and finally found this gem! His contacts are few - and it was easy to program. He loves the ease of use, he can hear conversations well, and he was able to figure the camera out fairly quick!
