The lens doesn't appear to have any damage to the exterior save for some wear and tear on dials and cap, etc., and the rear and front lens portions seem to be in good shape. As for the lens performance itself, it takes sharp but dreamy quality photos with natural light, even heavily overcasted weather. Inside with artificial lighting, the image looses that dreamy tone some but still produces a wonderful and aesthetically pleasing effect. I use Gobe's AR-E adapter and it works wonderfully on my Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Because its focal length is a bit short at 40mm, I appreciate and use the lens more on my full-framed Sony A7III than on my cropped APS-C Sony A6500. With the crop conversion we're looking at a 60mm image, which doesn't fair for my needs outdoors so well.

First off the lens, as described, near mint. beautiful looking, well built, lens. Focus ring is smooth as butter. But the thing is soft soft soft. Terrible in low light which is why ya want f1.8. Bokey not so good either. I know what am doing and can not get good results, even got a quality adaptor for Olympus E M10. I have much cheaper vintage lenses where I can create art with the limitations, but have not been able to do so here. However I tried uping the sharpness and contrast in-camera before shooting and did help. I just, so far, can not find a unique charactoristic about this Konica 40mm (80 on OLY). Am disapointed because Konica is known for some of the sharpest glass out there. But then again this might just be a mis-match with micro 4/3, and would shine on a full frame sensor. Like I said is a gorgeous almost pankake lens, well built, focus ring smoooooth. Below is a shot taken, but had to use in-camera HDR to get useful, again sharpness and contrast also upped a notch.Read full review

I'm a big fan of the Hexanon AR lens, in the first place because of their high quality, and secondly because they can be modified to mount on any 4/3 dslr. These lens are a affordable substitute for the quite expensive digital lens, and they perform amazingly well. You'll inevitably miss the ease of AF (auto focus)and other goodies the digital lens offers, but with a bit of exercise that's something you can live with. I can't find one single thing to dislike on these legacy glass. Would I buy this lens again? Most likely, no! I mean who needs two of the same toy? But I'll surely buy another Hexanon AR lens with a different focal lenght, whenever the price us right. Yes, I recommend trying out legacy glass on your dslr!!!
This light weight, low profile lens by Konica is considered to be the sharpest manual focus lens ever made. My own experience with this lens on film camera ( Konica T-3 ) and now on Olympus DSLR proves that out. Images taken with this lens, is sharp, sharp, sharp. Color tones are typical of Hexanon lens - bright and contrasty. The focal length and light weight are also desirable features of this remarkably sharp lens. So is there anything negative about this great normal lens? Well, yes, there is. At the widest open aperture, f1.8, the image is bit soft. However this is common for most lenses. For this 40mm Hexanon lens, all it takes is one stop closer - at f2.8 to make the image sharp again. All in all, this is one of the best lenses made by Konica.
The Konica HExanon AR 40mm f1.8 lens is a great, mid angle lens that is a welcome addition for DSLR and Mirrorless system cameras (Alpha/NEX, Micro 4/3). If you are looking to experiment with full manual exposure and focus on your digital camera, this lens will not disappoint. The fast f1.8 aperture will give you great low light responsiveness, and a narrow depth of focus and lots of fun playing around with bokeh. I bought this lens for my NEX-F3, and it it almost always with me. I shoot it almost always wide open for the narrow DoF. The only disappointment I have is that the adapter I bought for it forces the lens a little too tight against the adapter which makes the exposure dial a little hard to turn. Not the issue with the lens, just the adapter I got. I mark 4/5 stars for size/weight, because with my NEX, the adapter makes it more heavy, and less compact than a kit pancake lens.Read full review
