Like other reviews the container I received seemed (can’t verify) it had been opened and resealed using plumbing tape on the threads. I was unable to measure the amount in the container but it is very little. The container seems way over size for the amount of dye. With that said I emptied the dye into my hydraulic system (~8 gallons) with multiple remote valves and associated plumbing. The dye was well over the amount needed for my application. I simply want to observe the oil level. Bottom line: I will purchase again. I will use 1/2 for a full hydraulic system. That will be plenty to observe the oil level on the dipstick.

When I opened the box, which looks like it had been opened, it had been taped close; the foam inside the box was soaked with the dye. When I opened the bottle the threads on the bottle had Teflon tape wrapped around them. I took a hypodermic syringe to draw out what was left of the dye, I was only able to get 3 CC of dye. The dye does what it is supposed to do, but the packaging is not very good. I will be going to the local John Deere dealer for more so I can check before leaving to make sure none has leaked out.

The John Deere hydraulic oil dye really works great to check for leaks or to see if oil is going where it shouldn't be, and a little goes a long way. Great stuff.

Good bright red color makes hydrologic fluid easy to see.

Make sure you add it to your oil before putting it in your tractor. I didn't and hope is blends in the future!
