I thought that I would be getting photographs in the book that are similar in format to the one on the cover. Instead, the majority of the work is shot with a camera and lens that make the rooms loose their pristine stillness and beauty. I have seen this kind of photograph used in advertisements for selling real estate, trying to cram as much information into a small space as possible. For me, Japanese homes are keepers of elegance and romance, not advertisements. I wasn't moved by this work.
