All of us always want to save some money when we can. The Blu-Rays for the complete collection of Bond movies can be worth it of course, but id say the best bang for you buck are these volumes. The picture quality are actually quite surprisingly good! The sounds are top notch as well. Mind you these are DVDs, so for this format its really well done! If you can find all the volumes at a great price I'd purchase them in a heartbeat if i were you. One thing i wasn't too fond of was that they aren't in chronological order of film release. They are a mish-mash of films from different years of bond. Apart from that, this is an excellent way of getting your James Bond fix on the cheap.

If you love James Bond, then you will love the Bond collection series. All of the DVD's are clear and crisp. They give you a lot of bonus features and some even have additional disks with added features. I did not give it an excellent rating because of the following: Negatives: You would think that volume #1 would have had the first Bond movies, it does not. The only original Bond movie (1at James Bond - Sean Connery) in this set is Goldfinger. (Diamonds are Forever is also in this set. But there was a break in the Bond series with George Lazenby as Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. This ended the first Bond series as far as I am concerned.)I am a Sean Connery fan. I like the other Bonds also, but not as much with Connery as Bond. The reason they didn't put the films in order in the sets is because they know that there are other Bond fans out there like me. They know that I would only buy the first Bond pictures, skip Roger Moore and then pick up again with Dalton & Brosnan as Bond. Positives: Excellent quality. All of the DVD's are crystal clear with no drop outs, skipping or pixel squaring. Bonus disks. Almost every DVD movie has an additional bonus disk with loads of additional features. If you are a Bond fan, you will not be disappointed with this set.Read full review
If you are a James Bond fan, you can't do much better than these collections. MGM is re-releasing all 20 official James Bond movies (that's not counting Casino Royale) in 4 separate box sets. Each of the volumes contains 5 movies, each digitally remastered with a ton of extras. Now if you only want a certain movie then I suggest you either go to a store, search for that single movie on Ebay or pick out the collection that carries it. Now these collections aren't placing the movies in any particular order. You get a variety of Bonds in almost each collection. You get Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan in all 4 volumes. You get Timothy Dalton in Volumes 1 and 2. George Lazenby arrives in Volume 3. And for all those Daniel Craig fans you're left out in the cold until Casino Royale hits store shelves. Volume 1 contains Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Living Daylights and The World is Not Enough. Now I'm not like some 007 fans, I didn't get into the character until Timothy Dalton played the role, and that's because I just knew Pierce Brosnan was going to be the next James Bond back in 1987. (What can I say, I was in the 7th grade and I was a big Remington Steele fan.) So this was a great way for me to see how the character had developed over the years. I had seen The Living Daylights and The World is Not Enough prior to getting this volume. The other 3 movies I vaguely remember watching. I don't like watching movies on broadcast television because so many things are cut out due to broadcast standards. It's funny seeing some of the older movies now. (Seeing Connery in the terrycloth jump suit was just a crazy look now.) This volume is a nice snapshot of what makes Bond...Bond. You see the Connery cool, Moore being suave, Dalton being rugged and Brosnan trying to roll them all into one package. Out of this group of movies I'd have to say my favorites are Goldfinger and The Man with the Golden Gun. I would not have thought that prior to purchasing the set, but after watching all 5 movies those 2 just jumped out at me. If you're a fan of 007 or just want to get an idea of what's behind this love of James Bond, then this is a perfect starting point. Even if, to you, Sean Connery is the first and only Bond or you think that Timothy Dalton should have had a chance to further his take on 007, you'll find something to like in this set. You'll be hard pressed to find a more complete collection of James Bond adventures.Read full review
These volumes of James Bond are completely awesome. I own Volumes 1-4 and they are in my opinion the best DVD sets I own and I own a LOT of DVDs. They are absolutely chock full of Special Features and especially good if you love commentaries as I do. Most movies this old dont offer a commentary once its released on DVD but every single one of these do some even have 2. Great Making of Featurettes and Original Theatrical Trailers and TV Spots and more. I bought these because I wanted to own the whole James Bond Franchise on DVD and I was not at all disappointed every single movie has been completely digitally remastered and offers some Special Features never before offered on previous James Bond DVD releases. The only very minor complaint that I have with these sets is the exclusion of Sean Connerys remake of Thunderball called Never Say Never Again admittedly not one of Bond or Connerys finest hours but still should be a part of any James Bond Collection. These sets are an absolute must for any DIE HARD James Bond Fan. I highly recommend this Volume and the other 3 Volumes to any and all James Bond fans.Read full review
I, unlike another reviewer, have bought this set. I also do have the previous special editions. When I read the pre- publication specs (re: transfer method) it all sounded too good to be true. IT WASN'T!!!! The clarity, color, hue, contrast, etc, etc, are F'in FANTASTIC! Gronbeck2006, plug the Goldfinger SE disc in and watch the intro (b4 titles), then beg, borrow or steal (not really) a copy of this edition Goldfinger and watch them back to back. You wont believe your eyes!!! Like a brand new 70mm print. NO scratches, granularity or washed out colors. AMAZING!!! Read about the process (google Ultimate Bond). The price is amazing to boot!! I'd grab a set before they go out of print! I bot 2 sets (these will be rare, New in Box on ebay in a few years). On second thought, don't buy a set, I'll just get more for my NIB when I sell em in a couple years, heh heh. Ciao babies.Read full review
