We never had one of these until we received one last year as a gift. We were reluctant to try it. But since the first use, we now use this as a staple within our kitchen. From stews, pot roast, brisket. They're easy to make, great delicious dinners, amazing how the meat, potatoes & vegetables remain intact, the gravy you get is incredible, the meat is tender (even brisket) & you can make a nice size pot roast or stew from start to finish in less than an hour & a half. Pretty fantastic. The DUO60 has worked for us perfectly and we use it & count on it so much now, that we decided to purchase an extra. Great product, we would certainly recommend it to all our friends. Thank You Instant Pot!

The first thing I made in it is a pot roast. The cook time was only 35 minutes to make the meat tender (a little too tender). I do not like having to wait to put in vegetables. My old crock pot I can put everything in, put it on low and forget it for 6 hours. The second use was to cook steel cut oats, worked great. The first time I used it I thought the lid was properly placed in the slot provided for holding when off. It was not all the way set resulting in it falling off and bouncing across the counter top and floor. it does not appear to be broken. The steam release valve lets steam out when on closed position unless I fiddle with it. (maybe from falling on the floor?). I find the controls a little confusing.

Pros: It makes pressure cooking a breeze because you can simply set it and forget it! No adjusting temperature to get the steam output down to a minimum amount, presets work great, quiet, doesn't make the room humid or noisy. Directions are simple, LED messages could be a little better, but you quickly get used to them. Clean up is just as easy as a regular pressure cooker. Cons: All in all, probably worth the $100 if bought new, though I have a tough time spending that for a family cooking device that replaces a stove top pressure cooker. The one I got was a slightly used one for $60, and it was well worth it!

I came across the Instant Pot when I was researching for a new crock pot. My first thought was, "Okay, another gimmick to sit on the shelf." But upon reading a bit more I noticed pages of blogs dedicated to this machine as well as consistently high reviews. So...I made the plunge and bought the 6 qt DUO model here on Ebay for a very reasonable price. I should add that while I'm very familiar with rice cookers and crock pots, I really had very little experience with a pressure cooker, and originally figured I was replacing the rice cooker and crock pot with a single machine so if I never used the pressure feature, I was still ahead. My machine arrived promptly and upon opening I must admit I was a bit intimidated by all the buttons and features. While looking through the recipe book, I spotted a recipe for a pot roast. Ironically, that was the meal I had planned for the day and pot roast in my house is usually simmering for hours. So, I took the plunge. The instructions were easy to follow and FIFTY MINUTES later dinner was on the table; one of the best roasts we've ever had - moist, tender, delicious with beautifully cooked vegetables. OK, so far so good. Next stop, quinoa. It took longer for the Instant Pot to reach pressure than it took to cook the quinoa. Again, ten minutes later gave me perfect quinoa. Then came yogurt. OMG: best yogurt I have ever tasted including yogurts made with the two yogurt makers I have at home. Two more machines replaced. It was the easiest recipe to follow and resulted in the smoothest, creamiest yogurt I have ever tasted. Like so many others, I find myself using the Instant Pot just about every other day. Cheesecakes, soups, stews, this machine does it all except for washing windows. The best part is that I find my husband and I are eating healthier, cooked from scratch meals instead of reaching for prepackaged foods. It really is very easy to use and clearly one of the best purchases I've ever made.Read full review
