I bought the CD becaause I saw the Jersey Boys that came to the Detroit, Fox Theater in February 2010. My sister took me and my nieces to see them the Jersey Boys perform. It was quite a performance to see this singers perform the songs of the 4 Seasons. From beginning to now the show explianed how the group got their names and their lives affected their song composing. I bought it because of the good price and it has all their 51 HITS on it. I also have a hard time getting out and obtaining certain music items. As a young teenager I used to hear "Walk Like A Man" "Big Girls Don't Cry." Rag Doll" "Dawn" and other hits they did. I wondered where could I get one (cd/record) with all their hits on it. I found this cd to my liking and my sister and my nieces(are very pleased) at a good price. Thank you, Sincerely Yours, Rose27Sharon KathleenRead full review
While a few die hard fans might quibble over this song or that being left out, This is probably the best Collection of Four Seasons hits around. I have seen reviews that talk about the "horrible" quality of the recordings - Don't be deceived! This set has excellent quality considering the age of the material! Granted, these songs were not state of the art silent and distortion-free digital-quality recordings in their day, but they are pretty quiet and probably the best you will hear these songs. Most of the songs are stereo which is great as well. Of course things tend to be panned completely left or right as was the convention back in the 60's. I think the people who think this recording is bad probably listened to a modern recording of Jersey Boys and think the old stuff should sound as clean and dynamic, but most old recordings can't be compared to modern stuff in this way. However, you can judge the recordings against what was available at the time, and in that regard, I again say that this recording is excellent compared to what you heard then on the radio, or on your turntable. For those who know this group, no descriptions are necessary. For those who don't, this is a..., no, THE traditional "Doo-Wop" sound with catchy tunes and Frankie Valli's 3.5 octave vocals singing lead. If the only song you know is Grease, the earlier stuff is not quite so grand-sounding and hard hitting though a few are. Most of it is simpler music from a simpler time. Even the parents of the day could tolerate this sound over that of the Beatles and other "harder" groups of the day. Enjoy!Read full review

There are numerous FV&T4S "Hits" or "Anthology" CDs out there. To date none have the stereo version of Dawn (Go Away) from their stint with the Phillips label. This track can be heard in stereo on XM Satellite Radio or on most "oldies" FM stations, so why hasn't this track been issued in stereo for all fans to enjoy on CD? I would have considered this CD "perfect" if this simple task was done by Rhino or WEA. The listing for the CD indicates recording mode as "stereo". Okay, that is true for the track. It WAS recorded in stereo- we just can't buy it on a CD in stereo! I am especially disappointed because Rhino has been a leader in issuing remastered stereo CDs of many artists over the years.
I purchased the Collection because I wanted a true sampling of the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This is a Great Collection and contains music titles not listed on other Four Season CD's. It is packed with all of the Hits of the Four Seasons plus some of the more interesting music that they made and didn't hit the charts. This CD shows how versitile Frankis Valli and the Four Seasons were as a musical group. I totally enjoy the collection and play it every chance I get. My teen age daughter even enjoys listening to the collection.
