I bought this bass after several weeks of searching and comparing different models. I play regularly in a contemporary church band and had been using an Ibanez SD405 and a Fender P bass. I sold the Ibanez SD and began looking for a higher quality 5 string model in the SD line, but nothing really seemed to have all the features I was looking for. Eventually I came to the conclusion that the BTB series had more of what I was looking for and the 675 was the perfect fit. The neck-through design, the Bartolini pickups, the 3 band eq, and the individual bridges (one for each string rather than a single bridge) all add up to an amazing combination and make for terrific tone and sustain. From the get-go this bass sounded superior to anything I've played in my 40 years as a guitarist and bassist. It is by far one of the finest constructed instruments I've seen. It has a very solid and balanced feel. For the money I don't think it can be beat. Sure, there are more expensive basses out there but unless you're a semi-professional musician or beyond, you're wasting your money on anything more. This bass will get you what you need. Mine has the maple neck which when added to the walnut-over-ash body gives it a striking appearance. My other band mates and the sound guys at church noticed a dramatic difference from the first day I brought it in. The low notes are much clearer, especially the low B which is prominent in many of the songs we play. There is no mud to this guitar's sound. It is clear all the way through. I would certainly recommend this guitar to anyone looking to buy a quality bass for under a thousand bucks. They retail for much more but you can find great deals on these.Read full review
My brand new Ibanez BTB bass is dream come true. The Ebay price was way lower than the average price at the neighborhood guitar store. It was a beautiful item, and works like a dream, just calls to people to ask for a chance to try it out. Receiving my basswas practically in no time at all, here before I knew it. IfmI had to start looking all over again, I definitely wouldn't waste so much gas money, going from store to store, trying to find a deal where there is none.
I was looking for a nicely priced 5 string that had 19mm string spacing at the bridge since I am mainly a 4 string Jazz Bass player. I needed the B string for some things. This bass came up and I always wanted one for a long time. It was the right choice. I love the tone, the sustain, the monorail bridge. It is one beautiful bass. The active preamp lets me tailor different sounds on the fly. The Neutrik instrument jack is very solid! Now I want the 4 string 35" scale version of the BTB that are in fact discontinued, but thanks to eBay, I might be able to grab one.
I love my bass this particular one is slightly different from the normal BTB because it has a piezo acoustic bridge pickup as well as the to normal pickups.so you can get a slightly different tonality than the normal BTB bass.you can get a wide range of tones from this bass,it's a beautiful instrument an extremely well made.it feels great.and it sounds amazing.I've been wanting one since I played my brothers which has the normal set up 2 pickups and a 3-band EQ.I was just about to buy one when I saw this one.
Like he said needs a lil work, lose wire, buffed out, and some new strings and it runs smooth. Thanks man... Chris
