Solid state 44 pin IDE drives are available, but they are expensive. For some tasks, a compact flash dive is a but slower, but the price is a lot more reasonable. I don't know if a faster CF drive would speed things up a bit, but for the price, I don't care. The only other problem is they don't work with drive partition software that can be used for multiple operating systems, such as partition magic. However, I think both these problems are inherent with all solid state drives and are not the fault of this adapter. A bit tricky to install physically, but no problems installing any operating system just as you would on a conventional hard drive. No noise either!

Two of the adapters had solder splash on the board near the connector pins making them unusable. Build quality is what you would expect based on the price. Good luck, but expect to have about a 40% loss of usable pieces based on my experience.
