I'm a first time kayaker so having a lightweight paddle makes kayaking less tiring. I had researched carbon fiber paddles prior to this purchase and the price of this one couldn't be beat. I've gone out a few times already and so far so good. Seems very durable and efficient. My hands grip well on the shaft so I dont' need to buy grips. It has an adjustment feature that I could rotate the paddles to be, there's a word for it but I can't think of it, opposite to each other. It came in a variety of colors so I liked being able to pick that out. The handle, however, is black and does get hot if left in the sun, but cools quickly enough to use.

The paddle has all the right components with a carbon fiber shaft and nicely formed blades. It is light and reduces fatigue on a long trip. The only difference between HydroPro and my expensive high end paddles is that the HydroPro has a little play in the center of the shaft where the two halves meet. On each stroke you can feel just a tiny bit of movement. I still think the HydroPro is a great value and a huge improvement over aluminum shaft paddles.
