Like the listing says, it is a 24v AC device. What I didn't realize the first time was that the Honeywell board in my furnace, while it has a Humidifier circuit, outputs 110v AC, not 24v AC. This came as a bit of a surprise but I really should have used a multimeter to check instead of burning one of these up first. I am pretty sure that the previous owners of my house were completely clueless on this and burned up a few of these valves before deciding to no longer try to "fix" the broken humidifier because the circuit was directly hooked into the 110v circuit. Once I ordered a separate transformer to step down the voltage, this solenoid valve has been solid! I've been very happy and I expect the system to work for years to come.

EXACTLY WHAT IS BAD...is that this replacement solenoid is built backwards compared to the one it is replacing on my furnace. When I installed it in exactly the same way as the original, nothing worked. Furthermore, it set up a loud vibration---which I later figured out was because the IN and OUT ports were switched around. EXACTLY WHAT IS BAD...is that, once I had turned the switch around and installed it a 2nd time, this replacement switch allowed way too much water to flow through into the humidifier, which water spilled out over the floor. EXACTLY WHAT IS GOOD...is that, once I turned the switch around, and once I closed the valve on the main waterline to reduce the water flow, it worked fine.

This valve seems to be even nicer than the original one. Very well built. The screw slots in the bracket lined up perfectly with my factory Honeywell HE220 valve mounting points. Valve works great. The included/pre-installed water limiting orifice is very important and not all aftermarket valves come with it. The only reason for the 4-star review is because I had to take it back off and re-tape the brass Inlet and outlet fittings because they leaked no matter how tight they were. After re-taping with common white teflon tape, all is good and my whole house humidifier is working great again.

It was easy to reconfigure into an entirely different model, one that cost three times as much.

Had the same solenoid fail last season. May be minerals in the water(?). Will occasionally only partially open, resulting in the input water line to vibrate. The noise will go through the heat pipes. Annoying!
