They're not bad. They do work, but they don't seem to last nearly as long as the nikon branded batteries. The factory Nikon batteries in my d5500 are good for 600+ photos over the course of a 4 day camping/hiking trip. The vivitars however, despite the higher mah rating, are usually dying by about 350 shots. I just use these as backup batteries, and they're great for that. For the price it's hard to complain too much.

I purchased this spare batter for my wife's new camera and it is supposed to be a direct replacement but charged and installed in the camera you can't use it because a warning comes on that says that the battery is incompatible with the camera. Don't know if this is a problem with other cameras but it is with this camera. My camera is a Nikon D5300.?

Excellent capacity and at a good price. It would be nicer if it came with a protective cap for its out of camera storage but that is hardly a detriment. Cheaper batteries do not last as long.

When I first purchased this battery I put it on my charger and gave it a full charge. Then I put it in my camera bag just to have a spare. Maybe two weeks later I used up my factory battery and went use this as a spare. To my disappointment my camera only showed half a charge. I though maybe the meter just doesn't correctly read a third party battery, but it really was only half full. Fortunately, I was able to finish the day with the remaining charge. I have not let it sit for a few weeks to see if it loses charge, or if the first time was a fluke thing. It is now my main battery, and I keep the original battery as the spare. So far it has worked well as the primary battery.

I needed another Nikon EN-EL14a battery and read reviews of other brands which said the batteries either wouldn't be recognized by the camera or they failed soon after being received. I took a chance on this Vivitar battery and am glad I did. It is fully recognized by my Nikon D5300 and takes a full charge and has worked perfectly in my camera. This one is a winner!
