I use this to make my router bits last as long as possible, by keeping them as sharp as possible, so they run as cool as possible. Baltic birch is hard on bits and there seems to be an increasing amount of debris in the glue. I see sparks randomly fly from the route pockets in the Russian shop grade birch a lot more these days. I touch the bits up just before a large job with the 220 side until the edge is just flat, then a few passes with the 600. A spritz of DriCote and they don't burn as often.

The 300 and 600 grit combo is perfect for general knife sharpening. These diamond plates cut the hardest steel alloys effortlessly and can remove excess material quickly. My only quibble with these is that the surface has an occasional chunk of larger grit mixed in which can leave a divot in your edge. The surfaces are plated to prevent rust and the grit don't get rubbed off easily.
