I would recommend the HTC Status to someone who is just entering the smartphone world. This phone is definatley not the phone for a heavy phone user. The memory on this phone is down right horrible. You literally have to charge this phone once every 6 hours with the stock battery. The memory is really low. I have downloaded maybe 10 apps and it already says I can't download any more. I thought inserting my 16 GB MicroSD card would help but most of the apps don't allow to be transferred to the SD card so that doesn't help at all. Those are probably the phones only 2 cons. The rest of the phone is a real pro. The keyboard is amazing along with the 2.6 inch touch screen. This weird combination is actually fun to use. It's slight curve makes the phone easier to hold. Both the phones cameras are really nice. But not to forget the phones FaceBook button. It's a really nice feature that makes sharing everything a whole lot of fun. Overall, this phone is awesome. But only to the right people. If you are switching from a feature phone and just want to start getting into the world of apps and internet on your phone and facebooking on your phone then this is the phone for you. But if you are switching from an iPhone or high end smartphone then don't even try this phone.Read full review
THE GOOD THE BAD THE UGLY I'd done quite a lot of research about this phone, and had a friend who's had it for a while (and liked it). So I picked it up as a backup phone that I could swap various US and UK sims in and out of. It's just fine for that. Now, at least until I can afford to buy another 2nd hand phone, this is my MAIN phone. After several days of trying to find various needed settings in the UK, I got the data working on the phone just as I'd wanted. There are a few MAJOR ISSUES with this phone for me... 1) The battery, even not using the phone much during the day, wont even last a whole work day (9-5), so I have to plug it into my computer while I work and I have a phone charger in the car for driving home. [I intend to buy a back up battery soon.] 2) The other major issue I have with this phone is that the internal memory is WAY TOO SMALL! I have very few apps on this phone and have no space to add any more. {Yes I've deleted many and moved some to the SD card}... 3) The WiFi seems quite poor for when using things like MAP MY RUN or FOURSQUARE which is disappointing. 4) The screen is pretty small, and thus I find it very hard to read things on it - particularly text messages... To the things I actually like... 1) The WIFI, is good - if a little slow (work in a wifi building and still takes ages to load things like Facebook or web pages) 2) It has both the touch screen and the keyboard (which I would not be without). I definitely am a fan of both. 3) I like the curve of its body (to avoid it getting scratched when face down on a surface!), and it feels a fairly solid phone in your hands. 4) The post-directly-to-Facebook-button is something I rarely use, but it's been handy once or twice. Over all it's a cheap and cheerful phone. I am not out-and-out unhappy with it. Just mostly disappointed by battery life and internal memory. The rest of it,...you know, like actually making calls on it, texting on it, viewing Facebook and Twitter ect - are all fine.Read full review
I see alot of people complaining about the storage and battery usage. I have found that if you turn off the background data the phone will last at least 24 hours easy because it's not constantly looking for things. To do that go into Settings. click accounts & Sync and turn off the background data you don't need it on to run facebook or simple internet items. Thats really only used for chat features or mapping. I also found that my sd card can hold all the extra app games I installed on it. I purchased the Mauve colored one but when I got it, it shipped out in silver and white. I had the option to return it but because my other phone (palm) quit working I couldn't wait for a replacement as my cell phone is my only phone. The phone battery will last for 3 hours of talk time from a full battery. Thats pretty good. Keeping all wifi options off when not in use will save the battery time as well. It came pre-installed with apps I will probably never use but good to know if i did need them they are already there. It also has a quick access on the second screen for the WIFI to turn it on and off quickly. I don't really care for smart phone but this one I love!! Its very similar to the blackberry however the HTC format is simple to use. The photos that it takes are pretty clear for a mobile photo. I love the turn around photo feature where you can push a button and the screen flips towards you to take photo's of yourself without guessing!! thats probably my favorite feature. I haven't seen any downfalls to this phone yet. I am not saying there isn't any but for a easy to use smart phone I would recommend this to anyone.Read full review
I have to say that this phone really surprised me. It's cute as a button, small foot print, lightweight, and still packs a punch. Battery life is pretty good on a phone this small. Two things (which really shouldn't be a surprise) is the phone doesn't pack alot of memory so definitely not for power users and it stuck on Android 2.3 unless you hack it. Which given the limited memory is not to appealing. Bottom line for someone who's needs are straightforward and not demanding (child, older person, social butterfly) the phone is perfect. For anyone who's going to demand alot more from a smart phone aside from some music, email, messaging, web browsing, and of course calling this phone will grow old very quickly. However, for avid texters or emailers for a basic PIM style smartphone (i.e. Blackberry or Palm) this is an excellent choice.Read full review
I wanted a phone that has a keyboard and not touch screen. The button are easy to press and easy to read. I like that the buttons light up as well. The screen is okay, I like that it has different screens you can add to. And if you're a facebook lover this is definetly the phone for you very easy to navigate.
