I appreciate that this was replaced quickly while under warranty BUT when I needed a third board due to failure NO MORE CONTACT I was willing to pay for another but they refused to reply...really BAD policy.

I bought a f769 hp compaq laptop from my cousin that was not working. I figured I'd try to fix it myself. I thought it was the harddrive that wasn't working because would not boot to windows, it would only boot into bios and the hdd wasn't being recoginzed nor was the cd/dvd rom drive. After doing some research, I found out it is a common problem in hp laptops do to poor heatsinks. Their gpu overheats and you start to get problems like black screens or like I mentioned before hardware not being recognized. There are a couple things you can do to fix the problem, like reheating your gpu (temporary fix) or reballing the gpu (long term fix). Me personally, I decided to replace the whole motherboard. To make a long story short, I installed the motherboard with some good thermal paste and copper shims on the processor and gpu and my computer has been working great ever since, not overheating anymore.Read full review
