I've taken many science courses and done quite well. This book was by far my least favorite. Its content is good, but written in such a way as to make the material more confusing. Very few illustrations. The authors seem to go out of their way to impress upon you how smart they are, by making the book unreadable to most people. My physiology teacher said that if you can read a textbook, you should be able to read this one. I disagree - the textbook needs some serious editing. I'm a straight A student. If I can't read the book easily then others will probably have problems with it too.
This book is EXACTLY the same as the U.S. edition sold in bookstores-- the only difference is that it has a soft cover instead of a hard cover and it is 1/3 of the price! As a medical student, I have been through a lot of textbooks; this particular physiology book by Guyton is really fantastic though. It is written very clearly and makes the concepts easy to understand. There is plenty of detail, but not an unnecessary or overwhelming amount. Guyton's book has been highly regarded for decades, and there is no question why. For a medical student, or any student in the allied health field, this is one of those books that you absolutely must have!
Very nice! Thanks!

I used the an earlier edition of this textbook over 20 years ago when I was in college studying to be a nurse. It was without a doubt an essential book to me then. Now, so many years later I find myself needing to study physiology at a different level for a new job, Guyton's latest edition is once again the book to turn to.
