The 1350LMT is a low-cost small-size older model GPS that I bought to use on my bike and in rental cars. With that understanding it is just fine. I was disappointed to discover that you get only one map update. The update won't fit in the on-board memory, so you have to install it on a microSD card. Not so bad, but boot-up from the card is slow. The search interface is primitive, and if it can't find a match it hangs up and you have to power down and reboot. But again, all said, as a small inexpensive unit it's certainly adequate.

I bought 2 of these. I bought one for each of my cars and as a replacement for one older model. They are fairly easy to set up but loading map updates is a huge pain since both won't update from the Lifetime Updater - one has to be downloaded directly from Garmin's website (Garmin acknowledges this problem - big deal; it needs to be fixed). One unit freezes up from time to time (Garmin says they're working on this). The other has voice problems and frequently sounds like it's is drunk, slurring simple words. Garmin has yet to update maps for road changes made 1 year ago. For the price, it was a good deal even though there are similar models at cheaper prices. No opportunity to use the traffic mode since turning on the traffic mode also enables ENDLESS commercials that occupy at least 1/4" of the screen. When I did try the traffic mode, it didn't work and kept giving me some nonsense about unable to connect. It would have been a useful feature considering I was stuck in more than 2 hours of traffic jams, unfortunately it didn't/doesn't work for me. The display is bright and clear but I miss my "voices" which are limited in this model and the abundance of vehicles. Of course more of each can be downloaded from the web. I wish Garmin could make a unit that would LEARN shortcuts. This is an upgrade from my last Garmin that worked faithfully and never froze but didn't have map upgrades. It was actually cost effective to buy new rather than buy maps for an older unit.Read full review
great display, cool features, very easy to use... I'd rate it 4/5 cos the GPS has directed me to wrong places few times and while searching POI's from any location, it misses out the nearest points or sometimes takes you to some wrong location...Its dependable, helpful but not perfect.. i am satisfied with this model and very happy cos it has lifetime map and traffic updates..after using this gps i would surely recommend this to anyone, great value for money..after all nothing that man makes can be perfect :) there is always room for improvement.
With so many GPS units on the market, it was difficult to choose. But the Garmin nuvi 1350LMT is a sophisticated receiver for the money. Quick to upload recent maps and easy for the beginning user, I appreciate Garmin's "Where Am I?" interface, which allows the user to branch out from wherever the unit is, finding services and avenues quickly and efficiently. My only beef with the unit is its tendency to freeze up when using the traffic feature. It's easily rectified by restarting, but if I need a quick lane change or exit to avoid a traffic jam, I foresee a problem. I haven't used it much yet, but it is fun to listen to it recognizing familiar routes, downloading voices and vehicles, and letting it talk me out of a queer corner of the city. Well recommended for the price! Garmin is trustworthy. (In an ideal world, it would also have an external ear jack.)Read full review
I bought this because I travel every so often and I am not good at directions. This is an awesome little gps unit. Only bad is updating the unit. Make sure you got a fast internet connection and lots of time to kill. Preferably 2-4 days. Yes..., Garmins servers are extremely slow when it comes to downloading to your GPS unit. Make sure you get all map updates, software updates, and don't do like me and expect the whole 48 continental US map to fit on it either. Just get what you need and only that. Make sure you buy a big enough micro sd card when you get it as well. You can add all your extras like the free vehicles, destinations, pictures, etc..., to it when you do. It has turn by turn in 3D mode and 2D mode. If you want to buy a garmin.., get any with the LMT to the model number. That means "Lifetime Free Maps and Traffic." And with the economy in the dumpster these days, anything free is good to me !! It's missing a few features I would like to see.., but still, you got lots to work with on it. All in all.., I rate it 4.5 stars.Read full review
