Big caveats on 4 stars: 1) 09/22: there's been a run on utility stools; everyone's out of stock, almost everyone thinks they're cars ($800+,) so this is not just the cheapest stool I could find, it's the only non-Lexus-priced model available. 2) We've been spoiled by Rogue, Titan et al with their 11 & 9 gauge steel, Titan at stupid low prices. This Body Solid is exactly what you'd expect from the brand, their stated 12 gauge steel -- if you overtighten bolts you'll easy pull in the steel, not an easy thing to accomplish with T&R's 11g. Hard plastic feet with aggressive soles, and key-holes to secure them better on installation; I prefer hard rubber but even on a no-pile oriental rug this thing won't move. Reasonable total thickness of foam and plywood -- T's pads are useless, and, if you want to upgrade both pads sit on L-brackets with slots for bolts, giving you some play lining up a closely drilled replacement. 2 L-brackets each, but they're R&T thick -- wish the rest of the stool was of the same gauge. This is also the lightest stool I've found, though I prefer heavy, like the '00s Nautilus consumer bulletproof and reasonably priced stuff (with excellent pads, so makes sense they don't run that line anymore.) It feels a bit lower than 18", but 30lbs is heavy enough to not move. I'm 6'2", 215lbs, and am primarily using this for heavy dumbbell leg extensions which are a beast without support, and even digging my free foot into the floor, torquing my back on the stool, I'm not moving it on a very slick rug. If you can find an OG Nautilus used, grab it: stupid heavy, aircraft bolts, thick hard padding and excellent covering. Then send it to me please. Otherwise this doesn't feel like I had to settle as I did, so the web-wide reviews claiming complete stability are dead-on. The single front leg allows for dedicated bars to get in tight for storage, and the rear legs fit under just about anything elevated for even better stowing. But if you're used to ugly black boxy rigs, this is definitely not a tank as I'd prefer. Though I've accidentally bent by hand two different Rogue 1/4" steel plates, on two different rig attachments, so maybe this is a thinner denser steel. That caves if you overtighten the bolts.Read full review

Got this to add to my gym for the cable cross over so I can sit instead off stand for fly exercises or various other exercises. My bench press bench is big and not easily moved into place for the cable cross over. This still fit the bill and easy to move around. It's very study and the quality you expect from Body Solid.
