If you are looking for a camera that will fit in your pocket this is not the camera for you. The weight with batteries and XD card is 23.3 oz. The Fuji S6000 is close to a professional SLR camera. The 10.7x optical lens is not removeable like a professional SLR. The Fuji is a very well made solid camera made for the consumer that wants more zoom and like professional features. The Fuji is only a 6.3 pixel camera but just because another camera may have more pixels does not mean it will take better pictures. The lens is the key to great pictures. The Fuji does have a very good lens. The LCD viewing monitor is 2.5 inches 235,000 pixels TFT color. The fd on the end of the 6000 stands for face detection. This feature makes skin color more life like. The iso sensitivity is ISO 100/200/400/800/1600/3200. The auto focus is TTL 256-zone metering. The pop up flash has a range up to 27.2 feet. The viewfinder is TFT color LCD 115,000 pixels with 100% coverage. This camera is loaded with features, I just listed the features that stood out to me. If there is one thing to remember when you are looking for a good camera it is what people say about the picture quality. Remember that more pixels does not always mean better pictures, it is the cameras lens that really counts. I know that I said this before but a lot of the cameras on the market are trying to be stylish and that doesn't do a thing for taking good pictures. The Fuji S6000fd is a winner in lens quality so this means it does take beautiful high quality pictures.Read full review
I bought the FujiFilm S6000 camera about 2 weeks ago and I am very impressed!! The features on this camera are perfect for me. They are easy to use & I am in love with it. I am not a professional, thus I was not looking for a perfect camera, but this is the perfect camera for me! I am a mom of a 2 year old & this camera catches him in a great photo even in mid-motion. I live in the mountains & it takes breathtaking nature photos. The videos are not the best quality but it's not a camcorder! The videos are actually better than my last camera. The s6000 size is okay, but its definitely not a pocket camera. Buy this beauty a case. I highly recommend this camera. I love that it is simple to use & has so many features. I am in love with this camera.
I have been using SLR 35mm cameras since the 1960's and want a digital camera that handles like one and the Finepix S6000FD meets that requirement with both manual focussing and manual zooming from the lens barrel. I like to have a hand-holdable all-purpose lens that goes from medium wide to telephoto with close-up ability and decent apertures and the Fujinon on this Finepix is just such a lens. The Finepix S6000FD is just the right size for my hands ,the comfortable grip gives the camera balance and stability so I can do without anti-shake devices. I wish the Finepix S6000fd had an optical viewfinder instead of the electronic viewfinder which is too dark and too grainy. This Fujifilm model is a few years' old and does not incorporate the latest technologies in digital cameras but the larger size and clever design of its sensor ( 1/1.7 with only 6+ megapixel, instead of the current crop of 1/2.3 with 14+ megapixel ) allow the Finepix S6000FD to take excellent photos in low light at 400 ISO and 800 ISO without flash. An excellent all-round camera but a poor camera if I need to slip it in my shirt pocket.Read full review
This camera is one of the best camera's I have ever had the pleasure of taking pictures with. Its easy, has a great menu and face detection that works great! The only down side I see is the way the unit works with Microsoft Windows XP. Fuji took a step backwards in the way that the software interfaces and detects the camera in XP. If Fuji would fix this issue this unit would be worth it's weight in gold! The Macro and Super Macro is just that, SUPER! I sold a Canon 5D and purchased this S6000fd and it was well worth it! I love this camera. Even with the software issues, I would buy this camera again....
This camera is an excellent buy for the price. It takes quality photos that print EXCELLENT. I used this camera for 2 years for the stock photography industry. I was able to produce sellable, clean, crisp jpeg images. It has a RAW setting for those semi-pro shooters (or moms that want to edit and make WOW photos of there kids). The only issue I ever had with this camera is a slight purple fringing that comes along with a slightly poorer quality camera. It was generally easy to remove in Photoshop. When I upgraded and decided to pay a little more for a cameral I bought a Cannon 30D. This is a step more toward the proffessional series of cameras.
