Because “Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare” is not only the worst of the “Elm Street” series but it’s also one of the worst horror sequels ever made. I’m just going to sum up this intro in several short sentences. Unnecessary cameos. Worst use of 3-D. Overuse of Freddy one-liners. Uninspired dream sequences. Bad make-up effects. A craptacular screenplay. An inexperienced director. And a good cast wasted. A beleaguered child psychologist (Lisa Zane) discovers that a new patient (Ricky Dean Logan) is having the same nightmares that she’s been suffering from. Once again, they along with other patients venture to Elm Street where our favorite dreamstalker awaits. And thus, the story ends with the biggest copout in the franchise. After spending years working in numerous capitcites on the “Elm Street” series, Rachel Talalay makes her debut as a director and boy did she do a hatchet job or what. If New Line wanted the sequel to go out with a bang, they could have at least brought Stephen Hopkins (“Elm Street 5”) or Jack Sholder (“Elm Street 2”) back at the helm. Michael De Luca’s script is even worse because the story doesn’t make any bloody sense. Only they’ve used Peter Jackson’s treatment instead of the clichéd lost daughter storyline. I have nothing against Lisa Zane personally as she is among the few bright spots along with the underused Yaphet Kotto. Even Robert Englund is not putting much effort into his sixth outing as Freddy. Unfortunately, Robert has to spout out hammy one-liners while looking as disenchanted as we are. And the less said about Roseanne and Tom Arnold the better. The success of “Freddy’s Dead” prevented the end of the “Elm Street” series. As luck would have it Wes Craven came to the rescue with “New Nightmare” thereby giving it a proper finale. Thank god for “New Nightmare” because if this film was never a hit, then it would be curtains for Freddy. One bloody star for Lisa and Yaphet and one bloody star Johnny Depp’s memorable cameo.Read full review

I am a big fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street Series and I enjoyed every movie but this one. In my opinion this was not just the worst in the series but one of the worst movies ever!!! This movie has a BILLION!!! things wrong with it. It has the worst Freddy makeup, it really looks like plastic, worst Freddy finger-knives, they look like sharpened butter knives, it's badly edited, One, two, Freddy's coming for you. Three, four, better lock your door. Five, six, grab your crucifix. Nine, ten, never sleep again…. I think that Rachel Talalay deserves a punch in the face for making this turd!!!
The 6th Installment In A Nightmare On Elm Street, This Movie Is Entertaining, Also Features The Young Brecken Meyer.
