As entertaining as I thought it would be after seeing a few episodes years ago. The stories are well researched and true to life back then. There are a few holes in some of the plots, but nothing that would spoil the story, since it's not just the murder that is of interest in each episode. I thought I wouldn't bother getting sets 7+8, but I just had to get them after seeing the last episode in set 6.

This is one of the best dvd sets I have ever owned and I have a lot. I will be buying the rest of the dvds for this program. I first saw advertised in a catalogue and at a much higher price than I paid on ebay. The main characters (and I don't recognize any of them) are first rate. Each episode is pretty much a short movie, about an hour and a half or so long. I originally thought the movie would be dealing w/spies, but not much so far. Basically deals w/crime on the homefront but with the war very much in evidence as part of the plot; but it is the crime that keeps you watching. I'm usually not interested in shows that have social problems as part of the plot, but social situations are part of these discs, but it's not heavy handed. I'm trying to watch a disc a night and really look forward to watching. I'll be fixing the pop corn in a few minutes.Read full review

We came upon this while perusing through available British Mystery series on a different website. The ratings were superb, so when we found it for such a great price here on eBay, we purchased. We truly enjoyed all the characters and their interaction with one another. Lots of funny moments, and yet there is plenty of suspense, and lots of twists and turns. Foyle's character has such a quiet, commanding presence about him that is a wonderful contrast to spunky perky Sam, his young woman driver; and then when Milner joins the "team" he just compliments it with his friendliness, kindness, and eagerness to learn. Highly recommend; we will watch these again and again.
I had never heard of Foyle's War, but stumbled across a headline saying how much the fans were missing the show. I did a little research and decided to order the set with seasons 1-6. We have thoroughly enjoyed every episode. I have never watched murder mysteries and didn't think I would enjoy that genre. The vast majority of each program is unraveling the mystery (the murder scenes are very brief). The characters are very well portrayed. In every episode the acting has been exceptional, from the main characters down to the supporting cast. You never feel like you are watching a performance; you feel like you are there. The writing and development of each story is superior. Most of the time the ending was not what we expected. Like other fans of Foyle's War...we are missing Christopher Foyle and Sam Stewart. P.S. Sam qualifies as a "Manic pixie dream girl"Read full review

Foyle's War is a great watch for anyone who enjoys a mystery, likes history, and enjoys a good story. We love how the history of WW II is interwoven within each story. The characters are engaging and entertaining from the first episode of season 1 through the very last episode of season 6 and even beyond to season 7 and 8, We were sad to see the Foyle's War series end.
