Impressive album that expresses Justin Vernon's mental state and makes you hear and feel the author's lonelyness of being at a isolated cabin playing music while trying to recover from past hard experiences. "Flume" is an amniotic poem that will probably makes you shiver; "The Wolves" is likely to be the most expressive song along with "For Emma", which is a brilliant dialog between author and his lover. "Re: stacks" is one of my favourites - so minimal but so full-bodied. Excelent album if you like to feel quiet and peaceful after a stressful day.
I have had this for several months and have been listening to it all along. I wanted to wait to write this review. A must own for all strong Bon Iver fans. Stark and a bit down, but very hopeful. The writer was coming through a real dark time through his life as he was writing this. My favorite, the beautiful “Re: Stacks” The upbeat sounding “For Emma:, love those horns, sounds like a Mexican tune. The devastatingly emotional “Skinny Love” and the tune” Wolves, The (Act I and II)” which at live concerts becomes a sing a long.
That’s s CD was shipped quickly and was used but played like new.
