For anyone interested in "lucid dreaming," this is a great book to start with, as I have. A lucid dream is a dream (during sleep) in which you're conscious that you're dreaming. In other words, it's having mental control over your dream, even though you're sleeping. What this allows for is controlling the content of your dreams. Clinically, lucid dreaming has been used to help people who have PTSD with recurrent nightmares, to actually rid their dreams, and thus, their minds, of the frightening, torturous, or otherwise unwanted content. It's of interest to me not because I have many nightmares, but because often I find myself just not enjoying dreaming. The content is either too weird, or too anxiety provoking, and I would just as soon be able to make them more pleasant and even useful. I haven't yet finished reading Lucid Dreaming for Beginners, but I think that by the end I should be able to start lucid dreaming.Read full review
