We love this movie! From my husband all the way down to my 2 year old. We have seen it so many times that even my 2 year old repeats some of our favorite lines like "My MAMA can kick wide left and wide right". We have faced some of our own giants this year and this movie has blessed us in so many ways. We have also been able to use it to share Christ with others. My favorite is when we get in the van for a long road trip the kids always want to put on "Facing The Giants" and my Father-in-Law who is not a believer is always with us. He will not go to church with us and doesn't want to talk about our faith in God BUT he has seen this movie at least 4 times!! Bless God!! A must see!! We are buying everyone we know a copy for Christmas! One last note~there is no swearing, taking the Lord's name in vain, no boy friend girl friend stuff, no kissing, no smoking or drinking...just a great movie that will inspire and encourage you that "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!!" I purchased the movie because of a recommendation of a coach of one of our local public schools. AS my wife and I watched the movie, we were moved to tears because of the truth and reality we observed. The story of trials and problems that we all face made us look inwardly at our own life. We are strong believers in Jesus Christ, and the reality again was overwhelming. Prayer is the greatest tool a Christian has, and also perhaps the most misunderstood. The idea that prayer changes things is not true. Prayer changes us. The family, coach, team, and individual players all faced circumstances that were like Giants. God did not take the giants out of the way, but through a personal daily realistic relationship with Him, we find that we can face our Giants. When the young agnostic trusted Christ as his personal Saviour, we almost had revival in our home. This was and is the best movie of our day that we have ever watched. We know and believe that God is using and will use this movie to make a difference in the lives of others.Read full review
Alex Kendrick, James Blackwell, Jim McBride, Shannen Fields, Tracy Goode. Alex Kendrick, directed and starred in this film. Playing the SC Head coach, shows that as a coach he is both human, and understanding when he learns that some of the people at the high school want him replaced. The principle also a God fearing man stops by and tells him, this is the Word of God, and I think this is the message he wants you to hear. The principle reinstitutes the word tot he Coach. Unable to have children with his wife, and through prayer and the power of God and the word in the Bible, the Coach, brings the young men to prayer, and teaches them that the Power Of God, is the ultimate to rely on. As the coach uses some questionable tactics in training, you see as they go into the first several games, they are loosing. Then all of a sudden there is a great turn around as the team slowly comes around to face God and to bear witness to God and his savior to the earth. Prayer youth groups start up again. And the word and the understanding and the Grace of God flow through the school. God is so understanding of the coach, that the team begins to win, slowly at first, then things heat up. As you watch this film, you will see like so many of us that remember when God was behind this Country nothing was impossible. God proves his Love to the Coach in many ways, allowing the team to excel beyound what they thought was possible. As the film is slowly closing, wait until the very end of the film, and you will see what changes have happened in the Coaches personal life, and the happiness that God brought back into the lives of those who worship and praise his Holy name. If we need inspiration for our youth football Coaches, and our Hish School football then this is the movie for all coaches.Read full review
BY far this is one of the best movies I have viewed in many years. I only wish the the major motion picture studios would all fall in line and produce movies of this quality and character. The world would be a much better place to live if we all practiced even a few of the values set forth in this fine movie. I rarely will purchase a movie outright. Facing The Giants is an absolute exception to my rules. I will make it a point in the future to follow up with the producers and watch for their future productions. True Christian Values are shown in action! I generally will fall asleep after the first 15 minutes of a movie and wake up for the end. Facing The Giants had my undivided attention for the entire presentation. Facing The Giants is a true example that excellent movies can be produced without any hint of profanity, sex, or violence. Hats off to the Sponsors, Producers, Director and especially the cast. 5 Stars heck lets make this one 6 STARSRead full review
I had read about Facing The Giants for some time and finally bought it on eBay. This has turned out to be one of the best purchases I have ever made, and it is now one of my all-time favorites. The movie centers on a football team at a Christian school and its embattled coach, Grant Taylor. He has not had a winning season in six years, and school fathers are bent on getting rid of him. If that isn't enough, Taylor and his wife Brooke have been unable to conceive the child they so desperately want. To top it all off, their car is a clunker that may or may not start, much less get them to their destination. However, in spite of, or maybe because of all these hardships, the Taylors have an ace in the hole: God. Their faith in Him never wavers as they ask Him to guide them and to grant their needs. As the movie progresses, Coach Taylor takes another tack with his football players, who seem to accept that they will never be more than mediocre. He challenges them to place their trust in God and to dedicate the game they love and their very lives to Him. Taylor tells them to give God the glory, whether they win or lose. It is a lesson in faith that will apply far after they have left football and school and moved on with their lives. After this dedication of their lives to God, things begin to look up for the team and Coach Taylor. More cannot be said here without giving away the rest of a magnificent movie. "Facing The Giants" is a movie that families should watch together. It is a film that all children who are involved in sports or any other competitive activity should see. In doing so, they will learn how to deal with gigantic problems in their lives, be they a very good opposing team or something in everyday life. Above all, this story demonstrates the power of prayer, if only we will place our faith in God and allow Him to work in our lives. You cannot go wrong watching this movie.Read full review
