I've read two other books written by Lynn Austin and I couldn't put them down. The first book "Waves of Mercy" was actually written about my ancestors that immigrated to Holland, Michigan in the mid 1800's. I am a descendent of one of the families. The second book in the series picked up where the first book left off. "Legacy of Mercy" was another great read. My mom is 91 years old and has lived in Zeeland and Holland, Michigan since she was born. Ms. Austin came to my mom's Book Club and did a presentation. The ladies loved the book and Lynn. I did my Family Tree back in the 1980's so much of the information in this book I know is true. I have items like the ship records of my ancestors arrival in Ellis Island, New York City. It was great learning more about what happened way back in the 1870's. Richard AllenRead full review

Family Secrets - not so good sometimes. This one weaves through the lives of 3 generations - a mystery throughout time. You just need to keep reading to discover what "really" happened years ago. In the end, it's always about love and even in this character study of sometimes intense relationships - love prevails. It's a mix between historical and contemporary. For a die-hard historical fan - it was a good mix. All of Lynn Austin's books are amazing! Not just a light romance but a study of character, communication, relationships and then... add a little mystery along the way too. You will enjoy her stories.
I recommend the book as long as it doesn't bother you that she talks about God. Her books keep me reading.
