I purchased this book as reference material for my classroom. I am currently studying to become an elementary grade school teacher.I am almost finished with college. I am gathering items now for my classroom rather than when I get a job to keep the cost low for me. These types of help books are always good to have in the classroom for a quick reference. This book provides the basic math terminology and explains how math started. It also explains how many concepts are done in math. Not only will it help me,it will also help my students by teaching them how to research a concept or word that they do not understand. Math is a subject that in some cases children and adults both are afraid of. Having these types of books full of useful information that is easily understood will decrease their fear of math. This book will also help me when I am creating lesson plans. I love this book and will use it in the years to come.Read full review
The reason for purchasing this book was to review it and prepare for the CSET (Teacher Exam) for the multiple-subject credential through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This book is a wonderful, well-written compilation of information necessary to prepare not only one's self for the exam, but also enables us to assist students and even one's own children with their homework in the specific subject area. I am hopeful this book will help many individuals in my life and line of work and look forward to using it as often as possible. Thank you for your continued professionalism and your commitment to providing excellent customer service.
This book is what every parent needs. (Every parent, that is, like me who suffers from severe math anxiety). Even though I'm a teacher, I panic every time my stepdaughter asks for assistance with her math homework. Desperate but not sure what to do, I went to the bookstore and found this book. I have found it to be critical in helping me help her with math. The book contains strategies for solving problems, helpful formulas and tables, and other help. It is a great tool to have at home for helping kids (grades 4 and up) complete math homework.
OMG this is such a great math reference book -- and well organized, gets everyone on track...and refreshes adult memories too ;o) I highly recommend this book.
