First of all, it's just plain fun! Secondly, your friends will be envious as they make their skimpy instant coffee drinks on the mountain top. Be aware, however...the Esbit fuel cubes that came with this were rancid and I had to wash every piece of backpacking and Bushcraft gear I owned that was stored in the same tote as the cubes...twice! The cubes can smell like decaying fish that died from eating too many eggs. Now that you are thoroughly grossed out...on to some good news: The Esbit Coffee pot does not sit level on any kind of cook top as it has a rounded bottom (but so do I). I took a screwdriver and carefully taped out the bottom of the Esbit stove, leaving a cylinder that accepts the Coffee pot nicely and allows it to rest upon a trangia stove...perfectly! No need for cubes anymore. Also, I suppose this would also allow it to warm up over a gas stove also, too. It takes a few minutes to produce coffee and it's not going to be a lot, but it will be tasty! Enjoy!Read full review

The Esbit coffee maker is well made and brews a great cup of joe. The only reason that I didn't award five stars is because the pot doesn't seat well in its stand at ambient temperatures. I've been in touch with Esbit about it, and they even sent a replacement "prior-generation" stand, but the pot still didn't seat well in it, either. When the stand and pot are heated up while brewing, everything nests perfectly. It's a small nit, yes, but if the pot nested in the stand properly at ambient temperatures, it would have received five stars.
