The scans I'm doing with 4x5 film are stunning. Beautiful color, rich B&W tonal ranges, great shadow detail (DMax), and surprisingly fast scans. I'm doing 3200 dpi scans of 4x5 transparencies, black and white and color negatives. I'm rez'ing to 400 dpi and 40x50" prints. They look terrific. The holder is very good. Whereas I was having trouble with flatness on my newer Epson 4490 scanner, the flatness of the 4x5 film is better. The Silverfast SE software is really nice, but the lack of dust removal is my only beef. It takes me awhile to touch that large of an image, but you have to understand that the dust removal technology was not available in this era of scanner. Overall, I thought this would be a stepping stone to another higher end scanner, but I'm so impressed, I will be keeping it for a long while.Read full review
I had this model 2450 Epson scanner and needed another. It's an excellent value for it's capability to scan 4x5 film. Resolution not quite so high as new low price models but if you need something for 4x5, this is certainly a great way to go. All the resolution you could ever want with 4x5's! Arrived promptly in perfect condition but without connecting cable or film holders. I purchased the cable separately ($7), and already had the film holders. If not, I could have cut film holders from black mat board. Very pleased.

We had purchased this scanner about 8 years. Of course at the time is was considered to be top of the line. Through many moves some of the software and accessories were lost. My husband contacted Epson to order the parts, but they no longer carried them....this particular scanner new was 700.00. We looked here on ebay and found the same exact product for around 60.00, all software and accessories include. It was in excellent shape so we purchased it for the parts, but also now we have to very nice scanners. My husband recently came across some old photos slides taken by his father back in the 1950's. This particular scanner is great at producing pictures form slides. Since we have gotten this he as uncovered pictures of his family and of Japan, where his father was station, that have never been seen by other family members. We liked this particular scanner and could not see the need to buy a new one when our original worked great....so we now have 2 with the one we purchased here on ebay. It was a great deal considering what the original price was.Read full review
Great prosumer level scanner. Don't get it unless you are prepared to clean up dust specks in the final image, because it picks up everything in the image. Color is quite accurate as a direct scan for flatbed. Scanning slides and negatives is a little time comsuming, but fair to good quality scans come out of it. I knew what I was getting when I bid on it. I've used this scanner alot. Needed a second for backup!
