Doesn't lock up, but lacks flexability of lower cost android set-top boxes.
For some functions, it works great. IPTV (its primary design focus) is fine, Netflix and Hulu work fine, although you'll need a wireless mouse - you still can't navigate with the IR remote (a lot like the cheaper boxes).
However, CBS All Access app will not run, not at all, and that worked on the cheaper Android boxes. I can't find any information as to why / nor anyone with similar complaints so I'm not sure, but as a developer myself, I do know a bit of what I'm doing, it just stops whenever launched, firmware is up to date, etc.
Also, they removed the "add account" function from android setup for some reason that defies logice. So if you have more than one google play movies user, you'd need another box for the other account. (Again, this function works fine on cheaper set top boxes). I found a work-around way to trigger the add account function using an app designed to allow Chinese phones to add google accounts, so far so good, hope I never need to edit google accounts.
Anyway, the one thing it does do far better than the cheaper boxes: stays running without locking up.
