This text the masterstroke of its sometimes overshadowed author Mary Shelley is an esteemed conflagration of early 19th century themes encompassing morality, science and the spiritual makeup of humanity. Its plot surrounds Victor Frankenstein who seeks the gift of life and forbidden knowledge of Prometheus' gift to man. The carrion monster that he creates is emotionally scarred by the inhuman suffering it endures by human hand and eventually seeks satisfaction in ruining its creator. Descending from a long of line of dramatic tragedies this story no doubt holds true and in no small way does it revolutionize contemporary notions of horror and social ethos. Ranked among such great contemporary works of the time as "A protrait of Dorian Gray", Frankenstein is a must read for all those with an interst in our cultural and literary history.Read full review
The book you have listed in the picture is a totally different cover than the book I received. The book was marked up with pencil and crayon on the inside. Shelley did fine work writing this novel but some pages were destroyed by crayon.
