I have owned this Volvo since it was new and have logged over 350,000 miles on it. I have used almost every brake pad available on the market from OEM organic to high end ceramic. If those pads didn't turn my alloy wheels black from dust in a week, then they would cause extra wear on my rotors or make noise. The Akebono pads proved to be a blessing and the best performing brake pads I have used to date. Virtually no brake dust on my silver painted factory alloys and top performance in both repeated braking situations and extreme service use. This Volvo appears rather "pedestrian" in appearance, but I like to bring the light pressure turbo to its full capabilities with the B230FT engine. Just a much as I like to drive it hard, I like to bring it to a full, complete stop when necessary, such as red light races. These Akebono pads have NEVER smoked up or boiled my brake fluid. In conclusion, I would recommend this products and this seller to anyone looking to have clean wheels, superior braking performance & safety, all at a most reasonable price and prompt delivery.Read full review

Contrary with the other review here, and with what so many garages say, you don't have to replace the discs (brake rotors) because new brake pads are being installed. Same goes with the brake pads, if you are installing new discs there is no need to also buy new brake pads if your old ones are still good. This is a widespread salesmen approache. New pads will quickly adjust to old rotors and old pads will quickly adjust to new rotors. These Akebono replaced a set of still good OEM pads, which where really really dusty. The Akebono ones basically produce no dust, I don't need to wash my wheels (this is a daily driver, not a showroom car) every two weeks. The Akebono have slightly less bite than the OEM pads, but not to the point of having to worry about it. Also, very quiet pads, never squealed, and also these last longer (wear slower) than the original Volvo pads.Read full review

These Brake pads are designed by a Japanese company that has been around since 1929. They engineer brakes systems from bullet trains to motorcycles to F1 race cars. They are in my eyes the best you can buy on the market hands down. Try them and you will never buy anything else as long as you drive a vehicle.

Benefits of these ceramic pads: * Excellent stopping power * Smooth and quiet * Generate much less dust * Last a long time You should replace rotors at the same time. I use and recommend Raybestos Professional.
