If you had the primer feed apart recently like I did, to change the feed tube and cup size from small to large or vice versa, then you probably already wiped the stage where the primer feed assembly bolts to the press. If so, the install of this ball bearing roller will be greatly simplified. Just loosen the two screws with the Allen wrench and push out the blued steel primer track plate from left to right using the tip of the new track plate. Slip the new one in and check the clearance at the ram. If it is not rubbing the ram you can proceed. Set all the way left and attach the ball bearing roller. Check for alignment and snug the bolts. Test the stroke and adjust to center the cup in the shellplate. See if the bearing roller is turned by the stroke. If not, loosen bolts very slightly to correct center alignment and assure the roller is turned by the stroke of the primer feed bar. Re-tighten. Done. If you have not had the primer assembly off for a while then remove it and clean before installing the new primer track plate and roller. Great fit and finish. Fast install too.Read full review

My older 550b frame has the over cut in the bed area. So the support roller would not contact the primer slide. I considered the brass shim but after experiencing difficulty holding the bearing assembly in the slot while manipulating the parts, decided to deepen the slot and just allow the PSBTP lay against frame. SUGGESTION WIDEN PSBTP AND HAVE AN ELOGATED HOLE TO CAPTURE THE BEARING ASSEMBLY. I dropped the bearing assembly several times, etc. it’s just difficult to manipulate the parts. Its fine but complicates the set ups I recommend this accessory after you tried replacing the control rod and setting up per Dillon. And still didn’t get satisfactory primer drop.

The primer system on my Dillon RL550B has been giving me issues for some time. I've loaded many thousands of rounds and periodical cleaning would typically resolve issues with the primer slide mechanism. After many years and many many thousands or rounds loaded, the cleaning would no longer resolve the problems. A slight nudge of the bar was required to get it to go fully forward. This Primer Track Bearing Kit fixed the issue. I've since loaded several thousand more rounds since installing the kit. The primer system is now functioning as it did originally, smoothly and independent of a manual nudge. For under $30, the investment was well worth the expense. The folks at Dillon tell me that the culprit is a slight bulge in the aluminum slide bar that occurs over time. If you send it back to Dillon, they'll repair the issue or replace the slide bar component. Or you can install this nifty invention yourself and be reloading again without the hassle of returning the primer assembly to Dillon. Dillon is awesome. They always step up and honor their No BS warranty. But this kit avoids that necessity and actually improves an already impressively well engineered piece of equipment. Read full review

I felt the price was high initially until I realized that it not only solved several wear issues it reduced primer misfeeds. The design of the Dillon RL550B that I have (I am not sure of the C model changes) uses a primer feed design that does not balance the primer bar loading well. The die cast guide shoe will see lateral wear due to use, mine already had wear. This product solves that unbalanced high stress lateral loading, the primer bar extended support also aids in smooth motion. After recieving and installing this product, the quality is exceptional, the fit and function was great, well worth the cost.

The track plate installed quite easily and functioned perfectly. The provided instructions are easy to follow and provided additional information to enhance and ensure proper operation of the overall primer bar function. If anyone has a Dillon 550 Press I highly recommend the purchase of this upgrade, you will never regret the purchase. Immediately after installing the track bearing plate I loaded 3000 rounds of 9mm and never had a primer bar feeding issue. Before the tracking plate install I would have 10-20+ primer bar hang ups out of 3000 rounds which is very frustrating and time consuming. Very happy with the overall operation of my Dillion since the install of the primer tracking plate.
