The reason I bought this printer is the availability of inexpensive replacement toner cartridges. I can buy replacement toner cartridges for less than half what it would cost me if I had an HP color laser printer. After using the printer for a week and being totally satisfied with it, I purchased the optional duplexer. The duplexer simply snaps into place and couldn't be easier to install. I've had the printer for about a month now and haven't had any problems with it. Speed is good and color reproduction is good although it's a bit on the shiny side. The documentation says to use 20 lb, long grain, laser paper for best performance. The problem is I haven't found a 20 lb paper that says whether it's either long or short grain. For now I'm using the same generic 20 lb laser paper from Office Depot that I use in my HP monochrome laser printer. That seems to work well enough but for double sided printing a 24 or 28 lb paper will look better. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the printer and may even retire my HP monochrome laser printer.Read full review
I really like the quality of the color on plain 28lb multipurpose paper. I do alot of basic printing B/W and color print and graphics and the quality of the color surprised me. I expected less than inkjet quality at 640dpi but instead I find the quality is better than my injet on plain paper. The speed and noise factor is another unexpected good surprise; noise is less than an inkjet and the speed of printing is 5 times or more faster. It is easy to set up and easy to operate. The size is a few inches in all directions more than I would like, but it fits in the same footprint as my HP 6210 all in one inkjet printer. I did my research about after purchase toner replacement costs and shame on those reviewers.....Toner Compatibles are down to $69 for a set of 4 and I have been buying original Dell toner at $28.95 delivered. so the $375-395 retail high cost reported in the reviews can be beaten with a bit of research. I bought mine for $199. delivered and Dell just reduced theirs to $249. delivered... With so many of the Dell 2130cn's made toner will remain reasonable and plentiful for a long time. I'm glad I switched to laser and it is a savings on consumables also, with less plastic cartridges thrown away.Read full review
This is a really great printer. There is also some pro's and con's about it. Some of the pro's is that the image quality is very good, and printing quality is good, including the speed. Some of the Con's where that I had difficulties adjusting to having the printer printing in the right tone by adjusting it lighter or darker. Overall the printer is very efficient and hand when it comes to business printing, and something that requires lots of printing. One other good thing about this printer is that you could get many upgrades for it.
The only bad thing seems to be the size, it is a very large cube shape. It is an attractive looking printer however. Prints well and quickly. Nice vibrant colors and the toners do seem to be refillable somehow although I have not tried it yet. I've printed several times with it and the levels all still read 100%. It does need to be on it's own electrical outlet as most laser printers, because a UPS will click when you turn it on from the power dip. Overall I'm very happy with it and it's more than I need as a home printer, but at the price of a inkjet.
Love: size, print quality, quiet, speed, availability of non-OEM toner. Dislike: secondary paper feed sometimes twists page slightly
