I bought this DVD because I had picked up the life-sized "Marvin the Homunculus" figure that Full Moon had produced ,& I figured that I should own the 2005 movie it was based on, but, well, it really wasn't worth the effort. First of all, Marvin isn't even the main character but is kept in a birdcage for most of this cheap, shot on digital camera flick as a slave/pet by the true villainess of the piece, the evil vampire stripper Morella, & the toy looks way cooler (not to mention bigger!) than the phony, floppy little red rubber puppet that appears on screen. And while producer/director Charles Band (who believe me has done MUCH better than this in the past!) seems to think that idea of vampire strippers is something new & original he came up with, it was actually done first & better in 1986's "Vamp" starring Grace Jones which is definitely much more worth your time to track down. Heck, the first 10 minutes of this film is from another better vampire flick from Full Moon called "The Vampire Journals", & it also uses stock footage from, believe it or not, one of Band's kid's movies called "Shrunken Heads". Does this DVD have ANYTHING going for it? Well, yes, it does have another great performance from dwarf actor Phil Fondacaro who plays bearded & black-hatted Ivan the vampire slayer as a tough guy combination of Van Helsing & Clint Eastwood who can use a spin-the-bottle crucifix as an undead-detecting "Star-Trek"-style 'tricorder', a character that Band thought cool enough to come back for a cameo in 2006's "Evil Bong". I also admit that after all the blood, skin & sleaze I rather got a bit of a kick out of Band having the nerve to go for an old-fashioned comic book ending straight out of "House of Mystery" & then trying to top it with a kinky coda that is audacious in it's ridiculousness (let's just say that it involves TWO little rubber puppets in a birdcage...). The usual behind-the-scenes "VideoZone" documentary is okay too, although some of the camcorder footage they use is definitely not the best quality. Much better is the blooper reel, which contains a bizarre little scene of a naked porn star tied to a bed having a cross-eyed carnal confrontation with the miniature Marvin that for some reason I find head-shakingly hilarious. On the whole though, if you're interested my advice is to rent it first (if you can find it...).Read full review
