Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Satellite TV Receivers
I use two of these DVR receivers; one in my RV, and one in a guest room at home. These are the best Dish Network DVR receivers for the price; both in initial purchase and monthly fees. The receivers work well, but initial setup can be tricky if you aren't familiar with doing a "check switch" in the setup menu. Other than that, my only other complaint would be the remote control, which is cluttered with very small buttons, so it can be a little difficult to get used to.

the receiver is everything it was advertised to be. However it is not compatible with the dish sysyem using the hopper with sling. It was intended to be used in my RV. Dish said only the 211 or the wally would work, and they could not activate it.

I am really happy with this receiver. I only have one TV, so I didn't really need the VIP 712 or whatever that runs more than one television. It was easy to install, and the hardest part is always pointing the dish, but I eventually got it. Sometimes the receiver will lock up when you press GUIDE. It will OPEN the GUIDE. but then it just kind of freezes, sometimes it comes out of it on its own, and sometimes you have to hold the power button in and reboot the receiver. I have also had it lock up on DVR recorded events. This doesn't happen EVERY time, but it does happen regularly. I'm hoping it is just a software issue that Dish Network will eventually fix. Otherwise I am happy with the features, and the price. The HD is GREAT!
Ok the DISH Network ViP 612 Receiver works well it makes a big difference I was running a 722 box and was only getting 480p signal because it was the 2nd tv running off that box I wanted 1080i.So I called dish to find out how much it would cost they will not rent you these boxes only sell you one at a cost of 499.00, sorry that is a little to rich for me, so I went on E-bay in search of, I won one for 155.00 the only thing is before you buy one on there or are thinking about it make sure you get the roo# and call dish because people on E-Bay are selling these and 85% of them are leased boxes or boxes that are owed money on and Dish will not activate them so get the Roo # 1st and call I called about ten times checking #s until finnaly I found one with a good # Yeeeeeea. So the only other thing is after you get the box hooked up make sure you hook it up to a phone line so Dish can send the updates to it because at 1st the box had alot of freeze up problems where you needed to reset the box by holding the power button in after about a week of updates it seems to be working 90% better that is the reason it gets the 4 out of 5 star ratings not 5 out of 5 but if you want the true 1080i HD signal and not a 480 signal this is your answer I am pretty happy with it and the picture is great .Read full review
I mistakenly thought that this receiver, with its multiple tuners would have picture in picture, it didn't. Sort of a must have feature with big screen TV's on football game days. The other receiver I have is a dual TV one, with less tuners, yet it does pic in pic. Not the sellers fault, but the Dish Networks for not standardizing their products with common features.
