After many years of buying coffee makers with glass carafes AND the unending re-buying of their replacements due to its inherent breakage, I researched online for a coffee maker that does NOT use a GLASS carafe. The market was very limited, especially if you want a larger size. This fits the bill for me. The resulting coffee is as good as any I've had. I use good quality freshly ground coffee beans and clean filtered water, as I always have. Be aware of the carafe that comes with this model. It's referred to as "thermal" for very good reason. I was simply looking for a non-glass carafe, and this was an example. What I did not realize is that by "thermal", they mean that the carafe itself is NOT being heated or warmed as a coffee maker mechanism. Only by the hot brewed coffee. The directions even suggest preheating the carafe with hot water. I haven't seen the need for that. More to be aware of though, is the design of the top of the carafe. First, the carafe is surprisingly QUITE heavy. It took me a minute just to figure out how to remove the "top/lid". The outer part of the "top/lid" is actually embedded onto the carafe itself. It does not come off. The lid you can remove is a TWIST-on/off piece in the middle of the top, which took me a minute or two to figure out. In addition to all that, the brewed coffee (or cleaning water, etc.) does NOT neatly pour out of the spout. It gathers around the aforementioned embedded rim at the top, before pouring out. Very strange concept. Rating would be closer to 5-stars if it wasn't for that bizarre design. To pour, you have to tip the carafe over. Read full review

The carafe splatters coffee all over the counter when being poured into cup. It brews half as fast as my Mr. Coffee coffee maker. I will be taking advantage of my warranty.

I love the thermal carafe cause it keeps the coffee hot longer. The filter is terrific cause I don't have to buy, store and remember to keep disposable paper goods on hand. I like the feature that allows me to interrupt brewing mid cycle to pour a cup. It's both attractive and functional.

Love the coffeemaker but there is only one thing I would change. You need to put non skid tabs on the bottom of it so it doesn't move around on the counter when you are removing or replacing the carafe.
