Right out of the box it was a monster , after a gas powered Echo and B&D 5 amp electric whackers . It has the lower string RPM like a gas unit , just banging its way past bricks , trash cans , pipes . String advance was smooth , keeping it short for tight spots , curb edging . Two bumps got a full 18" swath for open ground . It is counter C/W rotation which no big deal . The power of a gas unit without the noise and exhaust " it quiet around here " . It's a bit heavy ,still useable for most folks . Recommend to all who hate weeds .

This is ridiculous. In this day an age they can't put an motor on this device that has variable speed. The product could have been great, but don't buy this unless you intend to run it at full speed, or the other choice - off. Ha. On a positive note, the 10 amp is powerful.

The things that initially attracted me to this trimmer were the power rating, the straight shaft and the motor location. My prior trimmer was a gas John Deere model so much of my review is comparison based. The GreenWorks trimmer is indeed powerful. It will cut through most anything. The problem is, the power is either off or full on. There's no concept of variable speed like a gas driven trimmer. I miss that. I find myself triggering the GreenWorks trimmer in a manner that's probably not best for an electric motor. One word of caution, keep your back to your windows and wear good eye protection. The shielding/deflector is not the best. The trimmer kicks up a storm and if a rock gets in the way, it will break glass. I unintentionally tested this. Since this trimmer is cranking at full speed, the factory-supplied line does break regularly resulting in the need to feed more line. If you get cheap/thin line you will become frustrated about line breakage and dissembling the spool to fix feeding issues. You can get one of those non-line attachments or go for heavy-duty line. I'd recommend not getting line that's ribbed. The centrifugal force of feeding ribbed line can more-easily jam within the coiled spool. Some people complain about the power and safety trigger. You will complain too . But it's not enough of an issue that would have prevented me from buying this trimmer. You may think this is a negative review, but it really isn't. This trimmer is a weed weapon but it's not for the faint of heart. I still like the variable nature of a gas trimmer, but this may be one of the better electric alternatives.Read full review

Powerful, less vibration than a gas string trimmer, less noise than a gas string trimmer, less costly than a good string trimmer, straight shaft, geared head, easy to refill string, performs just about as well as a typical gas string trimmer. no starting problems, no need to mix gas and oil, no need to change or recharge batteries, accepts all "click-link" attachments. What is there to dislike? I retired all my gasoline operated string trimmers because the vibration damaged my hands. I also got tired of having to adjust carburetors, mix new fuel, drain fuel tanks, get rid of old fuel, etc. I store my extension cords on wheeled hose reels which makes cord handling a breeze. Do not confuse this corded string trimmer with the anemic models sold at the big box stores. This one really does the job. Read full review

I was tired of mixing gas and oil so I bought a 4 cycle trimmer for it to only last a few years. I was waiting for a sale on battery trimmers but they never came to my price point. So took a chance here and was very pleased with 2 day shipping. Easy item to assemble. Minor parts such a handle and shoulder strap. Very powerful trimmer. It’s way more power than my gas ones. Operates very smooth and easy. My only personal complaint is the trimmer spins counter clockwise. I’m just not use to this directional spin. With time this will be no issue. I would buy this again with no hesitation. Great job GreenWorks.
