I purchased this knife because I have had really good luck with Cold Steel branded knives and so far this has not disappointed me in the slightest. First things first, its small. The total length is a hair under 6 inches- Blade is 3 inches and the grip where you can actually hold the knife is about 2 3/4 inches. But, if you know how to use a small knife you can grip this thing properly. I have used small skinning knives in the past and I actually prefer them to just about every from rabbit to deer. Granted, I bought this to be able to dress rabbits and small game birds but while I have been testing it out I have had no hunting opportunities but I have carried as a "EDC" knife a few times. Its not my go to EDC knife but it makes a nice camp knife and around the house knife. Its going to easily cut boxes up, pare apples and make all the cuts you need around the house. Sharpness - Out of the box sharp. I always strop any new knife I get but it came decently sharp. Quality- If you are comparing this to a high end knife this knife would get a 3/5 you can see some small imperfections here and there in the finishing of the blade but its not a deal breaker in any way. If you are talking about quality for the price it is easily a 5/5. Grip- One of the reasons I love Cold Steel fixed blade knives like this and the SRK I own is the grip. They do not look fancy, but they are extremely practical. The tang of the knife is felt until about a quarter of an inch until you get to the grommet at the base of the pommel. For a small knife like this it is almost required to have some sort of finger protection and this one fits in my hand well. You have to hold the knife like a whittler or a paring knife most of the time do to the grip size but that is what you are paying for and that is what you will get. Sheath- Comes with their Secure X sheath system. Its a nylon clasp with a pommel retention device that is easily turned around and snapped to the back if you dont want it. Its nice kydex/plastic not sure what the material is but it has enough retention for me to not use the pommel strap. If I were wearing this as a neck knife or a ankle carry knife I would use the retention strap. The sheath is really easy to put on and take off just slide the loop over the belt you are wearing and clasp it with the button. Cons - If you do not like small knifes do not buy this knife. You can tell the stainless steel is not as high quality as some of their upper tier in $$ knives but It will do the job. Due to its size I would never call this a "self defense" oriented knife, its a skinner and a task knife. But, that does not mean to say it does not earn a spot as a EDC knife for those tasks. Thats it for the cons really, its a matter of subjective taste. Out of the box this is a great little knife and would make a fine addition to your car bag, a nice back up to a camp knife or even as a main camp knife.Read full review

I guess I am an average size person. I find that this knife is actually a "mini" like the name says. When I hold the knife it only rest on three fingers of my hand. The handle is small to the extent that I would say it's great for a person teenager size, But I would prefer more length in a knife handle. It's an excellent quality knife. If you take your son/daughter out fishing/hunting this would be a great knife to get for them. I now own 4 cold steel knives not including this one. I'm sold on their quality. But this one needs a bigger handle.

Great little knife - I bought it to replace my Esee Izula 2 EDC - after loosing the Esee I wanted something for an "EDC" Every Day Carry to open boxes etc etc the Cold Steel is razor sharp - Stainless Steel Blade and excellent sheath. The Esee Izula 2 is just a better all around knife and stronger - but 2 times the price. The Pendleton is a good knife but the handle is too short for my hands - I found my Izula 2 and well it's just way stronger - but I still use the Pendelton to take to work but when I go to the park with my dog I grab the Esee Izula 2 it's a much much stronger blade and excellent handle.

I wanted a small, compact knife that I could attach to the strap of my hunting pack so I wouldn't have to dig through the pack's contents every time I needed to cut something. I bought several different knives like this one to try out, but this turned out to be the best by far. The blade holds an edge well and the handle is very "grippy" and non-slip. I plan to buy another one for my other hunting pack.

This knife came with the edge extremely rough. I had to re-grind the edge bevel to be able to use it. I don't mean just sharpen it but even each side out so they matched. One side had a lot more steel taken off than the other. After about 1/2 hr of work I had a very sharp knife with a even grind on it. I have another cold steel knife that had no problems like this when I got it. I will still buy cold steel knives because I like them.
