I had my TI7 clubs from Cleveland a few years now. I have been using the wedges which came with the set (pitching, 56 & 60 degree) and later bought a 51 degree Gap. I replaced the Gap with the 52 degree CG15 and my 60 degree. I am about a 12-15 handicapper. AS I get better, I was looking for better feel around the greens and more spin on the full and pitch shots. The club head feel a bit lighter than my previous clubs, thus giving a feeling of quicker swing speed. The clubs look and feel similar to my previous clubs so I get a familiar look at address. In terms of play, this is a serious club. The feel is very tight and when played with quality balls (if you got decent fundamentals on touch shots) you will see the spin/stopping power. If all goes well, I will replace the pitching and 56 degree next year. Paulie863Read full review
I recently purchased Nike's new pro-line wedge mainly because it was a very good looking wedge. I have played Cleveland wedges since the mid-90's and I thought I'd try something new. What a disaster! I could produce zero spin from 40 yards and in and could spin the ball 20 feet from 105 yards. I produce a lot of club head speed and have always been able to generate massive amounts of spin when the shot required it. I learned that Nike's wedge has smaller grooves closer together and this is causing the ball to 'slide' up the club face without grabbing the grooves. I tried everything (swing mechanics, ball, etc) before I decided to 'blame the club'. I ordered this Cleveland Oil Quench Wedge with their new Laser Milled Zip Grooves. First shot 20 yards on putting green: two hop-stop! This club is exaclty what you would expect out of a Cleveland, great weight, great feel, and excellent performance. I will never stray from Cleveland again regardless how good another wedge looks.Read full review
More spin than I have ever had with a wedge. The Zip Grooves are for real, 3 feet from a fairway bunker at 110 yards! The performance is fantastic, the only fault I found was the oil quench finish. After one round, 2 sand traps and 5 chips around the green, the entire sole of the wedge is now silver in color, talked to Cleveland and they confirmed "this happens, not usually this fast". Cleveland did offer to put a new head on, but warned that the finish will come off again.
I am using a set of Cleveland CG15, including 50, 52, 56 and 60. I got 50 is because I need a wedge to cover 105 yard shot. Since I just got this 50 last weekend, I haven't been able to figure out the differences between tour groove and zip groove, and the average distance of 50 comparing to 52. Its gona take me a while to tell more. But since I've used 52/56/60 so far this year, I have no doubt to say cg15 is a very good wedge set.
I am relatively new golfer (1.5 years) with a 22 handicap golfer.I started with a volkey wedge and switched to the Cg15 when the volkey wore down. Overall these clubs are similar with respect to distance and spin that I can generate. The feel is different though. The CG15 seems more balanced and my perception is that I can control the shots better, espically those 30 yards. I am waiting ot see if the spin improves as the club rusts. Oveall happy with the cleaveland wedge.
