The book itself is well made, well written, the pages are thick and of good quality. There's lots of patterns. The patterns are written clearly. However, the cover says "Projects for Harry Potter Fans" so, I expected things that would have a 'magical Harry Potter" vibe to them. These patterns, although well written don't give me that magical vibe. Theres socks, scarves and hats that are striped in the Hogwarts House colors. But, you could take any sock pattern, scarf pattern or hat pattern, add stripes to it and bam! Instead Hogwarts gear. Theres a wand holder, that looks just....well....un magical and if a person made it it would just look like a skinny elf hat for a doll. I wanted patterns that just screamed Harry Potter. Not simple things that I could do myself like altering stripes on a sock. I dont need a book to tell me that. I expected maybe a realistic knitted owl to look like Harry Owl. Or a knitted rat that looked like Scabbers. You know, something more challenging, more magical, you know. The book itself is well made, but the patterns lack that magical feel. If you want a pattern book, its good. But if you Harry Potter patterns with that magical and unique feel, look elsewhere.Read full review

I bought this just to have the Weasley Sweater pattern. For five bucks it was totally worth just that to me even if it didn't have anything else I wanted. However... it has lots of patterns that I am excited about trying out! I absolutely love all the house color hats and scarves and the snitch socks are soo cute! I also love the Quidditch socks and sweaters! Tons of patterns for all the Harry Potter knitting fans out there! And I love that most of the patterns come in adult sizes as well as children!
Non of the good/ difficult designs are in the book... Like Mrs Weslies cardigan...the beige one that looks like flowing leave ( the one she wore to Diadone Ally that day they traveled by flu powder.... Not in this book. The designs in this book are very ordinary.

This book is so much fun! I bought it so that I can knit some things for the Harry Potter fans for Christmas. Several of the patterns are for very advanced knitters, described as "Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test" but there are also a lot that novices like me can handle - "First Year". The pictures are great, and the whole book is done in a very Potter-esque style.
There are some awesome projects in here for Harry Potter fans. Can't wait to get started!
